Kenny Rogers, a child of a strawberry farm in Florida, may be best known for being the worst post-season pitcher of all time BEFORE smudge-gate.  And then, oddly, he became perhaps the most dominating picther in post-season history just before the world said, "Hey!  What the hell is that? Dude, he should wipe a little more carfully."

Thankfully, the smudge wasn't that sort of smudge.  Nah.  It was just a bit of dirt on the palm of a man who is paid millions every year to worry about pretty much nothing other than his hands.  Yeah.  that's it.  Just a bit of dirt.

Congratulations, Kenny!  Before today you were only an asshole.  Now you're a lying asshole with a fancy award!

We at HLS decided that while smart, witty, novel content is all well and good, you, the reader, really want serialized content that we can just dole out on a weekly basis using something equivalent to a mad lib and whatever the latest news items and figures of the day may be.

Nope. Not the really bad troll from Lord of the Rings! That's Donna Shalala!

Know someone who told a big lie this week? Maybe they lied to you, or the media, or the world, or to themselves. Maybe it ain't just one person but an entire group of people. And maybe it's not just an outright lie, but more of a flawed concept, or a myth, or a canard! It doesn't matter, just let us know about it! Has it got to do with football? No? That's ok! As long as it's a lie in some form, and it's juicy, and it involves a person, place, or institution that we can google so we know what we're talking about!
Each week, the staff of HLS will read thru the submitted nominations for the Donna Shalala Lying B&%ch of the Week Award and select a winner to be announced on Friday!

The first Donna Shalala Lying B&%ch of the Week Award will be presented next Friday, November 3rd, 2006. So get those nomination in today!
