This year, instead of cramming our predictions for each Notre Dame game into the Friday Roundup, we decided to throw it up in a gameday post.
Further, we wanted to open the predictions to you, the loyal reader. Think you got what it takes to take us down? Enter here (opens in new window).
We will award points for guessing the winner, beating the spread, calling the over/under, and handing out bonus points arbitrarily because that just what we do here. We will also have a weekly prop in future weeks for everyone to pick against as well. If some of that spread and over/under stuff confused you, don’t worry. Just give a score prediction and we’ll handle the rest.
Also, in your entry you have the option to give us some detailed thoughts on how you think the game will go down. Be insightful, hilarious, insult us, etc and we’ll pick our favorites and post it in next week’s prediction post.
With that being said, here’s how the staff is picking this week (Biscuit’s will always come from the dancing leprechauns unless otherwise noted):
|NDtex||Notre Dame||48-17||Everett Golson makes us all happy again and Malik Zaire gets some solid playing time in mop-up duty. We feel better about the defense for at least a week. Irish Elvis gets blamed for HLS staff favoritism in the #HLSRecap.|
|Irish Elvis||Notre Dame||24-23|
|Bayou Irish||Notre Dame||55-24|
|SupermanTDJesus||Notre Dame||48-13||Irish take a 35-10 lead into the 4th quarter, allowing Malik to take over and account for 1 TD and 2 more drives that result in FGs. The backups on D give up a late TD for Rice to save face. I don't care what the weather forecast says, the Domers get it done.|
|Whisky Poet||Notre Dame||34-17||Chris Brown will cause a Kelly nipple sighting, but the game will be somewhat uneventful otherwise.|
|Biscuit||Notre Dame||38-13||It’s a starch. It’s boring. It’s Stu according to his not-quite-yet-father-in-law. I will also be at the game. It should be ugly early, though it’s gonna be toasty and humid and drunken and BACKER HERE I COME.
Anyway, ND rolls early and the backups get a taste. We ride a wave of THUNDER (Bryant) and LIGHTNING (Folston) for the first half, and let EG get comfy in the 3rd, before they’re all on the bench resting in the glow of a great first game W. So very excited to see this new offense in action. Kelly is back calling plays (don’t know why he keeps pretending like he’ll really give it up), the up-tempo dream will be a reality with Golson back, we have a talented WR group and the best set of running back talents I can remember. If we can execute, this O should be a thing of BEAUTY. And given the massive holes created on D by the departure of the LEGEND LNIII, Tuitt, and Diaco’s hair, we’re gonna need it!
And that’s 3 leps baby! Feeling good here. Hit me up at herloyalsons at gmail if you want to hang pre/post-game!
And finally, these days, what is a prediction thread without an animal picking the games? So this season, my cat, Gulliver, will be picking games along with us every week. If he manages to out-pick all of us, I may need to quit this blogging gig.
Anyways, here’s his first pick of the season, enjoy:
GO IRISH, BEAT OWLS (and let my cat be dead wrong)!
