#3 South Carolina at #9 LSU

It is looking like the Gamecocks are in the middle of a 3 game stretch against top-10 teams after manhandling the Georgia Bulldogs last Saturday. Before South Carolina even has a chance to recover from a nighttime trip to Baton Rouge, they’ll be prepping to face #4 Florida.
While we all thought the Irish faced a tough schedule this season, this mid-season stretch for South Carolina borders on the absurd. If the Gamecocks can pull out wins against LSU and Florida, they may just find themselves coasting undefeated into the SEC Championship with games against Tennessee, Arkansas, Wofford (Wofford??) and Clemson remaining. If you watched USC’s (no – not the Trojans) game against Vandy to open the season, you probably wouldn’t have expected them to be sitting in the nation’s top-3 at any point. After crushing Georgia, though, the Gamecocks may have proved themselves to be one of the best teams in America. They will have the chance to solidify that status over the next two weeks.
Somehow, after picking 5 Marquee Matchups against the spread so far this season, I’ve managed to get 4 correct. That probably means that I am due for a loss, but if I keep up my winning ways I may just need to start spending some weekends in Vegas. LSU is favored by 3 points at home this weekend, and while they looked lethargic in the Swamp last weekend I expect them to bounce back on Saturday. Final score: LSU 14, South Carolina 10
Seriously, just look with what South Carolina has to deal with. Death Valley “destroys the dreams of invading foes.”
