SBT has the story.
"I'm still in love with Florida State, but I'm still in love with Notre Dame too," Lynch said Friday afternoon in San Antonio, where he will play for the East team in Saturday's U.S. Army All-American Bowl. "I'm all screwed up. That's all I've got to say. I'm all screwed up."
"If I end up picking Notre Dame, the next week after that I will be enrolled," Lynch said. "If not, then I'll probably go straight to Florida State after that if I'm not into (Notre Dame)."
Credit Coach Kelly and Coach Alford for hanging with it and keeping the recruiting going despite Lynch's flip...
"They haven't given up. Notre Dame, they care," Lynch said. "They just kept coming and coming and coming. Stuff changes, you know?" Lynch said. "Anything can happen."
Anything can happen, obviously, but ND wants and could really use the talents of one Aaron Lynch. Hope the kid comes to South Bend in the end. Lynch + Tuitt + Williams = Madness. Let's do it Tony! Bring Aaron home.

Wow. I actually feel for this kid. He clearly has the maturity to be able to realize when he is “screwed up”. I can’t imagine the stress that the recruiting process puts on good kids with good families who want the best for their loved ones.
This is a huge choice, but one with a timeline, and I imagine it feels like a freight train bearing down on him. I sincerely hope Aaron picks ND, I think it’s the best choice for the majority of kids who can get in, but will pull for him regardless.

In other news, it’s become pretty clear that the rules of the game are now that nobody is committed anywhere until signing day. I remember Charlie’s “If you’re lookin’, we’re lookin’.” as if that were a radical change from typical process. BK clearly understands that staying in contact is the rule, not trying to poach a kid.
We really, really need an early signing period.

Ishaq Williams seems to be having a difficult time pulling the trigger also. He’s down to three schools(has been for some time) and may? decide today at the AA-A game. He too is an ealy enrollee. You would think by now he would be packing, not still deciding.
I like to follow the recruiting process. I find it more interesting, than playing in a fantasy league. I realize though, that I do not know what’s going on in these kids’ heads. Nor, do I have a right to know what’s going on. It’s really a personal decision they are making.
That being said, if the chips fall ND’s way in the next month, This could be the best defensive class in years. Reports from San Antonio on Tuitt, Williams and Lynch are that they are big, fast and very talented. The question is…Are they Irish???

What position are we recruiting Lynch for? 3-4 DE or 3-4 OLB? He seems ideally suited to a 4-3 DE, given the havoc he wreaked in the West’s backfield all day yesterday. He doesn’t seem quite big enough for a 3-4 DE, which is really more like a 4-3 tackle. Tuitt, on the other hand, seems ideal for that role, and should be able to step in nicely once Ethan Johnson graduates. If I had to nitpick at all it would be that he (Tuitt) seemed a little slow off the snap, and stood up too quickly.
I was also trying to watch Haggerty during the game, and from what I could tell he wasn’t impressing me all that much. Granted, the East’s defensive line was dominant, but I was hoping to see him hold his own a little more rather than falling down so much. I think he’ll be fine at the collegiate level, though.

From what I’ve learned reading sites like HLS, BGS, etc, the top DE’s and OLB’s are typically more ready to play and grown into their positions than top OL’s in high school. Many of the OL’s being recruited right now, I’ve noticed, are only 250 pounds and some even played TE in high school. So in al All America game it wouldn’t surprise me to see DT’s and DE’s dominating OL’s.

Heggarty was nursing a bad knee(don’t know extent of it). Tuitt does need to be quicker off snaps, that’s in scouting eports on him. Lynch is 255-260 now, plenty of room to grow.

Lynch officially decomitted last night…you’d think that’s got to be good news for the Irish.

I cant get my iPad to log into Sideline so I’ll ask here – it’s been a while since we reviewed number of scholarships left and top targets. With Bullard headed home, Rudy taking the money and running, and Ruffer not even being able to go one season without missing a FG (jk), etc, what is the picture looking like now?
