Insane? Crazy?
ND has 2 weeks off. Plenty of time to rest and recover, right? Plenty of time to work on fundamentals and fix the little things. Plenty of time to develop cohesion amongst the units, especially since both sides have been depleted by injuries. Yeah, sure, I guess.
But along with that, it's time for BK and staff to go BALLS OUT on a game plan to beat freaking Utah.
Earlier this year, UCLA came out with an entirely new offense against Texas and stunned the Longhorns. Granted, Texas doesn't really look like Texas this year, but UCLA had absolutely sucked up to that point and nobody gave them a chance. Ricky N installed an entirely new offense, which energized the entire team, and they came out fighting and took down a heavy favorite.
I'm not saying that ND should bail on its entire system, especially with a Frosh taking the snaps, but I do think it's time to swing for the fences. Install some crazy-ass plays, instill some anger and madness in this group, go balls out. The hook and ladder was great, but it should just be the beginning. I'd like to see crazy-ass, all-out plays all over the place on offense and defense. Throw literally everything at Utah, and see what happens. Because this season isn't going anywhere really quickly, and ND as a team needs a shot in the arm, a kick in the @$$, whatever. We need SOMETHING to wake this team up and get 'em going.
Some might say that this is exactly the opposite of what we should do - that we should stick to the plan and install the basics so Rees has a chance to execute. And I guess that makes more logical sense. But hey, logic and sense are in short supply around the ND Community right now, so let's just embrace it huh?
Flea flicker on 4th and 30 from our own 20? Do it.
Quadruple reverse halfback pass with a hitchngo thrown in there for good measure from their 6? Yes.
Fake fake punts? No doubt.

Love it! I want to see every fan in the stadium yelling their heads off like every other team hosting a top ten team with the chance of an upset would do. Enough of this reality where our coach makes questionable calls and our players don’t know how to win – we can debate that before and after the game, but for 60 minutes on November 13th, let’s see some crazy in Rockne’s House!

I hope this week Kelly has been preaching finding players who want to play and win, rather than expect to play. I’d be fine if we replaced any and all starters (other than Teo) going into Utah. Find they guys who are going to give you the crazy, the passion, the hitting m’fkrs 100mph, even if they’re not the most talented guy at the position, or senior. Because obviously it’s not a matter of talent, it’s a matter of wanting it. Use this bye week to find the guys who want to win, who will cry on the bench when they lose even if they didn’t play in the game, and get them plugged in. A heart transplant, if you will.

Run a play BEFORE THE GAME! Opposing defenses will not be able to defend that at ALL. Good way to put some quick points on the board.
