That's right. Another sacred tradition has been ended at Notre Dame. Bigger than the Disney-fication of the Pep Rallies. More terrible than the ending of the SYR. More horrible than going 6-6 last year. YES! I say it! I reveal the dastardly deeds of an administration run AMOK!!!
More terrible and gruesome than all of these is the death of the quarter dogs!
Quarter Dogs have been an ND staple for years. I remember my first trek to LaFun with $2 for 4 Quarter Dogs and a bag of Fritos. That is some good solid nutrition there folks.
Loved the name, loved the convenience. But somebody somewhere decided that they needed another 8 cents per dog, which means we lose the name, the myth, the legend all in one fail inflation (despite that we're in a deflationary period) driven move.
A 33 Cent Dog? A buck ONLY gets me 3 DOGS?!?!?!!?!? WHA?
If the football players get a training table, the rest of us drunks should get hot dogs for a quarter late night!
Storm the administration building, picket the dome, rise up and fight for what is right!!!!!!!!!!!!!
33 Cents! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Um, nobody cares about Notre Dame anymore. I don’t think they are really Catholic anymore.

The argument that includes “a DECADE ago” has never stopped Biscuit. Ever. In anything.

dude. yes. and that has no impact whatsoever on my sadness at this horrible end to a time-honored tradition. what? i had to have been class of ’05 or later to care about quarter dogs? what is this, age-ism? does this mean all people over 50 can’t come to games anymore? that it’s not cool for me to spike my hair and frost my tips post-30? wait…

look…you can’t expect 25 cent hot dogs to compete in a modern late night snacking society. Ad budgets for big programs like taco bell are way up. this is the price of competition in the modern world of tubed meat.
(i TOTALLY just said “tubed meat”)

can we have Jack S. manage LaFortune as well? Seems as if we could use his hand in these matters in addition to his duties as AD.

This will be a logistical nightmare for the LaF clerks. I would imagine most people either paid with exact change or, like the age-defying biscuit, got 4 for a buck. Now, you have to break a bill and give a penny change.

yeah, should go 33 and 1/3 cent just to rid the world of pennies.

Just so I understand correctly. One of the all time great ND campus traditions, right up there with painting the helmets and crying while watching rudy, is eating day old hot dogs? And you guys are upset because now bacteria in a bun costs 8 cents more? I’m starting to question our choice of sending the kids to Catholic school.

Just so I understand this correctly – when you were in college, late night drunken food crushing WASN’T one of your favorite past-times? It was for us. And no, it’s not one of the all time great campus traditions according to ‘Notre Dame’. It was according to HLS.

TDK remember that HLS is in no way affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the University of Notre Dame.
Drunken food crushing was never one of my traditions. Now if we get to talking about smoking a cheap cigar on the steps of the K of C after a night of emptying cans…

Not exactly. But to the HLS’s diet, this is like Oreos being permanently cancelled from production.

Unfortunately, 8 cents won’t be enough to price out those poor girls that can only wear sweatpants in the spring semester. Also, please don’t call it LaFun. That’s the lamest building nickname on campus.

It’s a sad, sad day when college students studying at 2 AM (studying, right? Isn’t that what college students do? It’s been 12 years for me, I get fuzzy on these things) can’t get 4 hot dogs for a buck.

At my small DII school, our traditions consisted of staying up all night & banging an oil barrell, getting drunk and burnin massive bonfires, and spending our weeknights at the only bar in townthat played horrible country jams. I’d settle for quarter dogs over that any day
