That extra W can bump them up in the polls, make that BCS game more likely.
Why else would they have a title game?

Short answer: $$$
Interesting to see how they preserve the rivalries thing, esp. OSU-Michigan.

Also interesting that moving to 9 conference games means 3 non-conference games instead of 4. Wonder how that will affect our scheduling – will Michigan (sucks), MSU (blows) and Purdue (“Purdue” is sufficiently derogatory) still want us on the schedule every year?
Maybe we’ll have to go looking for more fights in the New Big 10 in addition to Texas, or (please God) add an SEC team.

I don’t really know if this 9 conference games thing is going to happen. Before expansion, everyone talked about it as if a 12-team conference would be stupid not to play 9 conference games. Look around. There’s a reason the SEC, MAC, Big 12, and CUSA only play 8: it’s 6 more guaranteed losses for conference teams, 6 more road games instead of mid-major buy games. UW’s Bielema has already expressed concern over the creation of an unbalanced 4/5 home/away conference schedule. I know Delaney’s talking about it like a done deal, but logically, I just can’t see it going down so smoothly.
