History vs History: The Skunkbears

Since DMQ started his own series below, I figured I need to keep mine going. Up next after Purdue this season is the Skunkbears of Michigan (all of whom suck).

Let's recap the ND stats quickly...

Overall Record: 831-285-41

Overall Winning Percentage: .736

National Championships: 13 (varies from 9 to 13 pending the source, but we go high-end here for obvious reasons, right?)

Bowl Game Appearances: 29

Bowl Game Record: 14-15

Michigan's Sucky Football History Summary:

Outside of USC, no other team on the schedule comes close to ND, except the 'bears. UM has a rich football tradition (duh), and the historical stats show it.

Overall Record: 872-297-38. The skunkbears have more Ws than ND, but they are sucky Ws. Overall UM is #1 in total Ws, and ND is 3, with Texas coming in at #2.

Overall Winning Percentage: .738. The 'bears and the Irish are in a virtual statistical tie in winning percentage, with Michigan (sucks) edging the Irish by .002. After RR pulls out another horrible season this year, ND will pull even closer.

National Championships: 10. (of course this number varies as well, but I'm just going with nationalchamps.net here, which tends to give everyone credit for everything). ND wins the head to head here, by a whopping 30%.

Bowl Game Appearances: 39. Given their Rose Bowl tie-in and ND's penchant for just passing on Bowl Games over time, not a surprising edge.

Bowl Game Record: 19-20. Percentage-wise, just about a tie with the Irish.

And let's not forget the most important part of this history: Michigan was afraid to play the Irish for years, and then tried to get the program boycotted. Didn't work out that way, but they tried.

Hence, the suck.

Want more? WIKI!

I hope we crush them.
