Bush Responds to NCAA Sanctions

And it is, uh, to put it lightly: freaking weak.

"I have a great love for the University of Southern California and I very much regret the turn that this matter has taken, not only for USC, but for the fans and players," Bush said in a statement.

"I am disappointed by [Thursday's] decision and disagree with the NCAA's findings. If the University decides to appeal, I will continue to cooperate with the NCAA and USC, as I did during the investigation. In the meantime, I will continue to focus on making a positive impact for the University and for the community where I live," Bush said.

Just some translation:

"I very much regret the turn that this matter has taken" actually means: Yeah, I could've cooperated and been honest and upfront and maybe helped the school lessen the impact, but I'm taking care of ME. And yeah, it's a bummer for USC, but there's NO WAY I was going to cop to this and hurt myself. NO WAY.

"I am disappointed by [Thursday's] decision and disagree with the NCAA's findings." actually means: I am really bummed out that they figured this thing out. I mean, I just stonewalled and stonewalled, and Coach Pete ran for the hills, and I paid those dudes to keep quiet and brought armed body guards to meetings, and they still figured it out? Wow. That just sucks.

"I will continue to cooperate with the NCAA and USC, as I did during the investigation." actually means: I really will. I will 'cooperate' in the EXACT SAME WAY I did during the investigation. Yes, it's true that I didn't cooperate at all. And I will continue to cooperate in the exact same way. Meaning not at all.
