Great history, great drama in that history. Both programs looking to make a comeback. Would be a great matchup.
Then just follow it up with home-and-homes and we are righting the ship in the 'interesting schedule' department.

I was just mentioning to a friend the other day that it might be time to lift that ban. Glad to see this might happen. Glad to see Jack has some scheduling cajones. Glad to see some respect restored!

Scary thing is that I think we might be swinging too far the other way – from 2010, where we have a pretty bad slate of opponents that will still net us a Top 50 SOS, to this:
2012 9/01 Navy (in Dublin, Ireland)
9/22 Pittsburgh
TBA Purdue
TBA Brigham Young
TBA Oklahoma
TBA Michigan
TBA @ Southern California
TBA @ Rutgers
TBA @ Arizona State
TBA Baylor (Cowboys Stadium)
That’s a top 10 SOS, easy, assuming things stay relatively constant over the next few years. Not a single ‘easy’ game on the sked – that’s really tough. Too tough. Last year was a good mix – #36 SOS is perfect. Just make the home slate (6-5-1 will help here too) a bit more interesting and it’s good to go. 2012 as it’s looking now will be brutal.

not sure, i think a lot of it is still up in the air, but that’s the latest i could find. i am sure that wont be the final sked, and maybe some of those are duplicate, but even with a cupcake or 2 in there to replace any duplicates, it’s a Top 10 sked i think.

not to mention, the sked above doesnt even mention Miami, which would have to slot in there somewhere. so suffice it to say that i pasted in a dud of a reference. my bad.

Its cool. I usually keep a close ear to the ground regarding ND away gms near me. I remember the Big XII has some kind of shit fit about a XII team playing in XII territory on a network other than EsPN or ABC. Last i heard Baylor was gonna be in Nawlins

By then, 2012, Kelly will be in his third year. If he’s going to be successful, he should have the program up and running strong by then. If we are were we are supposed to be, Navy, Purdue, Rutgers, Arizona St., Baylor and probably BYU are all very manageable games that ultimately we should win. I don’t think that schedule us too tough. Someone has to play a top then SOS, and it might as well be us.

Sorry, “where”* and “is”*.
Also, thanks for advocating for home-and-home. Heard a rumor they might be looking at a neutral site thing for ND vs. the U.
