Stoops Issues Denial-Denial

Nothing’s ever forever, but this seems pretty definitive from Stoops’ latest release through OU:
“There haven’t been any plans for a meeting or negotiations with Notre Dame and there will not be. Any reporting to that fact is completely erroneous. I will not be the next coach at Notre Dame”
Dream another dream, this dream is over.
I do think the media hounding him, and the false rumors flying, hurt any chances we may have had with him. Again, it’s not 100% definitive, simply because things can change. But for those holding out hope, you may want to move to another dream candidate.

Yeah, no thanks. Stoops is overrated thank god he’s not coming to ND.
Give me Kelly or I’m through with ND

Stoops’ best days are behind him. It has to be Kelly.

Interesting that the first real candidate to offer info that hes willing to entertain an offer is kelly

I think that the most common misconception held by ND fans was that Jack would either have a new coach in the bag or at least have preliminary talks with his top choices before he moved out Weis. As it turns out, it seems like he really did wait until Weis was gone (Stoops) and until Kelly finished his season before starting discussions. That seems like a really methodical patient way of doing things, old fashioned almost but that seems to be ok w/Swarbrick.

I also read Stoops wouldn’t confirm that he had spoken with ND because he wanted ND to be able to say whoever they hire was their first choice. Kelly isn’t worried about that because if they make him offer he knows he’s going to take it.
