We could roll to Detroit for a total cost of a few grand and come back with three quarter of a million. That’s not bad ROI if the finances are a concern.

I guess you could bring CW back for a “swan song,” but really, what would a bowl prove? It would be a financial disaster.

Let’s just concentrate on recruiting and build a winner next year. It’s time.

Given our current arrangement with the BCS, I don’t see any financial pluses to going to a minor bowl that pays out less than it costs to send a team to the game.

I’m sort of past the “taste” now that Weis is out.

I’m almost certain Tate and Jimmy want nothing to do with any activity that might physically harm them between now and April 2010.

The recruiting thing only works if it’s a non-sucky bowl and we have a HC.

We’ve elected not to go to bowl games in 96 and 82.

SDI, I get the missing CW part, but I don’t know that they’d be uninspired. I think the opposite. But the concerns of having someone else calling plays is a serious one.

Biscuit–agree with a lot of what you said. But the idea of an uninspired ND team playing with Ianello calling plays, and probably losing to some MAC team with much more motivation, does not sound fun to me. For all his warts, CW’s game planning and play calling were the best thing going for this team (considering how atrocious the D typically is).
Remove CW from the equation, and you’ll likely see an ineffective offense and a bad D = blowout embarrassing loss.
