ND Should Go Bowling

…assuming a decent option becomes available.

the dude says: “STFU Donny, and let’s roll.”

Why?

1. Money. After buying Charlie out, and hiring whoever, we’re gonna need some cash baby! Not like it’d be anything more than a drop in the bucket compared to what we pay Charlie and the new coach, and it’d be nothing compared to the funding we have on-hand, but hey, every bit counts. This assumes we can find a bowl that’s a net positive from a financial standpoint obviously.

2. Get this taste out of our mouths. Ending on a 4-game losing streak, the changeover, etc just doesn’t sit well with anyone. Even those that wanted change don’t like the process, and nobody likes to lose. A win would be a nice way to finish things off. The Hawaii game clearly served this purpose last year.

3. Give the seniors one more game. They’ve worked hard and have been through a pretty crappy year. It’d be nice to give guys a shot to leave the program on a high note.

4. Give Jimmy and Golden one more game (and us one more chance to watch them). We know it’s likely that this is their last year. Plus, they’re both close to eclipsing a couple more records, and these guys are just awesome to watch.

5. Recruiting. Going to a bowl shows that there’s fight in this program, fight in this team, despite all the drama. That will be reassuring to some recruits, and could help keep them in the fold. It won’t be a sole reason, but it can help.

6. It would be fun to see an Ianello-run team take the field, and see what goes down.

7. We’re Notre Dame. We’re not a great program right now, but since when do we back down from a fight, a challenge, a game? I think the answer should be never. So let’s suit up and go bash some heads.

I know it’s a bit messy when there’s a new coach coming in. And we may or may not have the guy on campus by a Bowl game, and that could certainly impact things as well. But hey, it’s worked before. I say we go for it, and get this turnaround started early.
