Enjoy It.

The Biscuit

I know this season hasn’t gone the way any of us wanted, and that sucks. But man, there’s 1/6th of the season left, and I plan to enjoy it. I recommend you do the same.

This could be the last 2 times you see Jimmy, Golden, Floyd, Allen and company take the field. Collectively, or as individuals. Although their time at ND hasn’t gone the way they, or we, planned, this is a solid group of kids, and they deserve our support through 2 more games. They’ve been let down by a combination of missed recruiting, questionable coaching, tough breaks and more questionable coaching.

But let’s send them off right, with our cheers echoing into the night, win or lose.

I mean, we all wait for months and months to see the team take the field, and now some people can’t wait for the season to end. I understand it, but I’m fighting that feeling – I want to savor every minute of it. Because as soon as it’s over, I’ll be pining for next August’s kickoff once again.

So regardless of our ho-hum record, and the (again!) turmoil surrounding our coach and therefore program, I’m tossing on the jersey, doing push-ups at 9am and cracking the first beer immediately after.

Because, after all, this is Notre Dame football, and there’s nothing better than it in the world. I love Saturdays in the Fall, and I only get 2 more guaranteed. And I plan to enjoy them.

I’m hoping the players do as well, and that they can go out there with a chip on their shoulders to leave this season, and potentially their college careers, with a couple W’s under their belt. Because despite all this (deserved) crap, Winning cures all.

Let’s strap on the chin straps, lace up the boots, and go at it.

2 more weeks left, gotta enjoy it while we can. (and then we can worry about the drama).

Go Irish.

Some of the negativity I have read and heard about is brutal, wretched and hateful. These posts and verbal comments indicate a lack of maturity of the individuals making these statements. Biscuit you are very right…. there are ND games left to play and support for the team (coaches included) should be at 100%+. The ND flags will continue to be hung from my front and back porch every weekend.
You might have also added the team and coaches have also been let down (screwed) by some horrible officiating.
What plays out, will play out and vitriol against players or coaches is not helpful at this time. Both players and coaches have worked extremely hard to try and make this a very successful season. Sadly, it is not as successful as most of us expected. Go Irish!!

I have a hard time with posts that trash coaches and players. All of them are decent people. We were so excited the past spring and summer.
We couldn’t wait for the season to begin. With a bang Nevada fell then came the exciting and disapointing uM (sucks) game. So on and so on.

This season has been very eventful. One thing I will take away from this season is the no quit attitude JC has brought to these games. He never quits, never. He has had the support of his teamates and they have never quit, despite some questionable schemes called by coaches.

I say GO IRISH!!

Amen, Biscuit, Amen. ND football on Saturdays is my haven from all else that might not be right in my world. Damned if the whiners, cynics, and fair-weather lot should take that away.

GO IRISH.

It seems like another time and place when we trounced Nevada. I remember thinking how awesome this season would be and I now realize that this game was an aberation. Nonetheless I love Irish Football and even though I never attended the school, Notre Dame is important to me and my family. We will someday rise from the ashes and until that day I will continue to join biscuit for that early Saturday morning beer and wear my jersey with pride.

I agree. I don’t want this thing to turn into the Cubs. I don’t want ND to be the loveable losers. I want us to win, and win big, and consistantly whomever the coach is. Go Irish, beat everyone.

Biscuit,
You have said it all. And in a grand fashion. You practially make me want to stand on my desk -I’m at work – and scream the fight song out across the cubicles. And scream I would have to, sitting here surrounded by Boston College and UofFlorida
want-wits. I am an alumni. And I have not set foot on the campus in 30 years. I tell mtself it will never be as good as I remember it. You see I was a freshman in 1977. A city-kid, whose parents were Irish immigrants, I came from South Boston, where Notre Dame was mythic, an Irish Valhalla, where John L. Sullivan and John Kennedy lived forever. And when I got off the plane in South Bend the first thing I saw was a headline about Al Hunter being booted off the team for parietal regulation violations. I thought “That can’t be good” I mean a preseason consensus Heisman Trophy leading contender.. But the seniors who took me to my room from the airport said, with the same confidence you captured above, “No problem, We’re Notre Dame” and if you know the history of that season they were right.

WORD.

It is unfathomable to me that people can say they don’t really care about watching the UConn game tomorrow. Just as it was unfathomable to me at the end of last season when people said they didn’t really care about watching the Hawaii Bowl because all we were going to do was go out there and lose to a mediocre team anyway. I’ve had just about enough of THAT attitude.

I’m going to watch every last second of football until my heart bleeds over.

Because what’s left at the end of the season besides football withdrawal?

God help ND. Stanford and Harbaugh are next.
What ever happened to the probable 11-1 season.
Now looking down the barrel of 6-6, the program is in shambles.
15-18 million to buy out Chubby.
4 more million to get a new coach.
Man, ND is up the creek.

Hey Biscuit, are you enjoying it?

Schematic, I was looking for 9-3/8-4 this season, and this is not enjoyable. Hope every saturday night isn’t as sad as you spending your time lurking on ND blogs. Actually, I am pretty sure this is about average for you.

Your fat jokes are soooooo original, and soooo hilarious. Weis is twice the man you are – literally, AND figuratively. And it’s the figuratively that should bum you out. But you won’t care, and that’s even sadder.

schematic advantage as if you give a shit, but no none of us who are true fans and supporters of the Irish are enjoying this. What Biscuit was talking about this week was just to enjoy the fact that we support this team and enjoy the game itself. None of us enjoy yet another loss by a team that had us so excited by the possiblities only 4 weeks ago. In fact a true supporter recognizes that we as a program are in trouble, but we also feel pain for all our players, especially our seniors. Our heart goes to all players and coaches and all ND Nation that live and die by this football team. To be sure, there are far worse problems in our world, but this hurts nonetheless and anyone who glories in this by mocking the loyalty of another Irish supporter is either a fan from another team putting salt in our wounds or an asshole. Biscuit, Domer and all those who read Her Loyal Sons, I apologize for my language, but the comments, made by f the Irish and schematic are out of bounds. If you want Coach Weis gone fine, but do not attack the integrity of fellow Irish fans; it is not done. I did not yawn when this team lost today, I felt horrible; there is no enjoying this…… GO IRISH!!!

We need to get our program going again. We’ve waited long enough. Why do we keep making excuses for this man? And no, he is not respectable. Think of all the hot air statements he has made over his tenure. No ND coach in my memory, and I’ve been watching this team a long time, has made more blathering, bragging statements, yet failed to deliver on promises. I suffer each time the networks replay the footage of when he was newly hired, and I cringe. Pure braggadoccio. We’re better than this. Can’t wait to turn the page and end this ugly chapter.

At November 22nd, 2009 at 3:23 am, Schematic Advantage said...

Tjak and Biscuit – Quit making excuses. With the prestige, the resources, the fan suppport, don’t you think we deserve better than 0.583 winning percentage over the past 3 coaches? If TCU, Boise, Utah, and for god sake Stanford, can have some success, why not us? And no, we should not be enjoying this. Lame excuses for mediocrity and how we should be enjoying this, I just cannot accept. If you want to talk character, and the quality of coaches we’ve had here, I think CW is out of line with the prototypical ND coach. I can’t think of any prior Irish coach who would wave Superbowl rings in front of a wide-eyed recruit. That kind of cheeseball, car salesman tactic I thought was more SEC style. I’m sick of all the empty promises, the lack of accountability, the smug sense of superiority (my NFL mind is superior to you college pee-ons). Quit making excuses people, and let’s get Kelly to ND!!!

All this weak, fluffy talk about we should enjoy the rest of our now 6-5 season precisely demonstrates how emasculated many fans have become. Stop grooming the white poodle and get the fire burning again. For all intents and purposes, its done. Turn the page, move forward. ND will rise again!

At November 22nd, 2009 at 11:21 am, tjak said...

I am not making any excuses for Weis and what has happened over the last three years is inexcusable for a supposedly top tier program. No argument here. I am choked that you were rubbing our noses in our pride in Irish Football, no matter how tattered it might be right now.

I’m sorry but no matter how hard I try I’m not enjoying this.

Did anyone else find it sickening that hammond seemed almost gleeful every time he mentiomed charlie was on the hot seat? After uconn scored the last td, it seemed like he was happily cheering ‘and this may be the last game for weis in nd stadi, whooopeee!!!’
