Insert “Witty” Pun Using Tate’s First Name Here

The Biscuit - 3:14 pm

Man, where we would be without Golden Tate? (likely 2-3 at best) This kid is electric. He’s mystifying. He’s a playmaker. He’s cocky and bold and ridiculous on the field.

I love this kid.

Tate has carried this team offensively over the past 2 weeks, stretching defenses and destroying double-coverage to keep the Irish Offense humming. Tate is 4th in the country in receiving yards at 602, just 37 yards out of 1st. He’s averaging over 18 YPC, and he’s hauled in 4 TDs. He’s added another 93 yards in rushing, and made key play after key play to keep Irish drives alive. His stats were capped off this week by a record-braking 244 yards receiving. 244! That’s just madness.

Tate started off the year a bit rusty, and to be honest, he looked a bit lazy. As Michael Floyd established himself as the clear #1, Tate seemed to retract a bit, rather than assert himself. He missed assignments, and he dropped key passes (especially against Michigan). But as Floyd left the field with his season-ending injury, Tate has stepped up. Big Time.

He’ll come at you from every part of the field. X? Check. Y? Check. Z? Check. Halfback? Fullback? QUARTERBACK? CHECK, CHECK, CHECK. It’s this elusiveness and flexibility that really makes Golden so effective, and so tough to stop. Weis would be wise to keep using him in so many ways, even if/when Floyd rejoins the lineup. He’s been a huge lift for an ND offense hobbled with injuries, and he’ll continue to be all over the place, worrying opposing defenses to no end.

Tate is everywhere, Tate is nowhere.

Tate is blowing past you with ridiculous speed.

I mean, the kid IS Golden.
