Thank you JESUS!!!! All this week, I will be wearing blue and gold to work. Ties, watches, or just the colors. In the evenings, as the kids take showers or take baths, the CD the Sounds of the Fighting Irish is played in preparation for Saturday. Friday night, Rudy will be watched. And, in tradition of some saturday in September, my oldests b-day party will be starting at 2. So the game cannot be watched nor scores discussed as some other program from the SEC, Big 12, or maybe even the ACC, whose program I am sure is as dirty beyond all recognition takes up space on my tv while I try to entertain and drench about 15 5 - 8 year olds. Please Lord, let it be HOT outside so I am not tempted beyond what I can handle to watch that game until the party is done! It has been adversely affected by the earlier start time of College Gameday, but I will press onward. I wake up around 9:00 (or whenever my body decides to). I go through my normal morning routine and then challenge my roommate to a game of NCAA Football (current year + 1). Usually this game will be Notre Dame against the week's opponent. After the game, College Gameday goes on the TV, and I sit and stare at that for 2 hours. I talk about how much I hate Chris Fowler and cover my eyes so I'm not blinded by Day Glo Corso, and I boo when they invariably ask Mark May how badly he thinks the Irish will lose that week. Once Gameday is finished, I channel surf, trying to find the least crappy noon game to "watch" (pay little attention to while I race to the finish line of an event I like to call the 3000 milliliter dash). Once I have adequately pregamed, I find a tailgate, where I do my best not to attract the attention of authorities. And this year, instead of ending up in Ben Hill Griffin, I will watch the Irish take the field in Notre Dame Stadium. Go Irish! $%#& Michigan! I have a game day ritual. On Saturday morning the BBQ gets fired up and we will have an old fashioned tailgate party with all kinds of meat and chili and of course, the suds. The fight song will be sung and a few prayers to our lady will be said. Blue and gold attire only and a little Dropkick Murphy's blaring in the background. Mom is already praying for a victory as she wants the rest of the weekend to be peaceful. We also have our brick, that we purchased from the renovation days as the shrine on game day.
