Friday Roundup: The “Dog Days” Edition

Man, coupled with the absolute lack of college football happenings this week, the MJ and McNair “news” and “coverage” was just brutal. If only Michael could have keeled over in September. We could have completely missed it. This week, even Poodle Pete is taking a break from spoon feeding us any football joy.

Don’t worry, world, Pete’s not really taking a vacation. He’s just heading to Cabo and then Maui to help improve their joy profiles. (Also, ellipses to finish sentences, Pete? For shame… all those wasted characters…)

The Roundup:

• I’m really hoping to see The Big Lead get sued for their “coverage” of the McNair mess. Not because I’ve any idea if such a suit could be won. I just can’t shake the feeling that TBL is the used car lot of sports blogs.
• Speaking of Twitter, Charlie’s back in the office for a bit.
• Charlie might want to pay attention to Randy Shannon’s new RB depth chart philosophy. There’s “1A,” and then there’s people without a 1 in front of their names.
• MLB player Alex Cora finds himself banned from every NCAA football game in the country this year. Maybe next year too.
• How do you replace 8 players taken in the NFL draft? Starting with 8 players on the All-American watch list is a good first step.
• It’s hard not to love Holtz.
• I have completely ignored this in favor of concentrating on the economy, Swine Flu (it’ll come back), and various bits of international diplomacy. If only Congress would do the same.
• Looks like there’s trouble in the paradise of Flint, MI.
• Sometimes, if you run with the bulls, you’re gonna get the horn. (Too soon?)
