This is Weak

Steiner Sports (whoever that is) is auctioning off an actual ND scoreboard. This is the scoreboard that was installed between my Frosh and Sophomore years at ND…I remember walking past the stadium after our lone season with Holtz and the ‘old’ stadium, and seeing them hang this sucker up there. Yeah, we tried to grab a brick, but that fence was legit, and we lost. We settled for a handicapped parking sign which we quickly ditched when we got busted for the in-dorm bar…sigh. That bar was sweet – dance floor and all.

My question is, why the heck are they auctioning it off? ND doesn’t need the money, and it’s a perfectly good scoreboard. There are a ton of legit uses, apparently none of which are worth more than a few grand to the University. Plus, how high do they think this will go? How many people have use of a freaking ND scoreboard that’s not going to fit anywhere but maybe on a roof? Maybe some high school will buy it, but really, for how much? $10K? $20K? Unless that money goes to charity, it’s a drop in the freaking bucket for ND. So, keep it.

#1 obvious use is for Interhall Sports, and specifically Interhall football. This would be an awesome thing, to have an old ND Stadium scoreboard mounted over on the interhall fields for key weekend games. It could be used for a number of sports, but Interhall football is the place it belong.
