Chuck is All A-Twitter too.

The Biscuit

Charlie Weis Twitter.  All modern and connected.

Personally, I find Twitter kind of lame and pointless.  But it’s all the rage, and if it just might give a coach an edge (or eliminate an edge for another coach) in recruiting, you just gotta do it.

Tweet tweet.

someone posted a funny story on BGS about coaches tweeting style and how Charlie compares to the Poodle. Now posters are feeling the need to defend Charlie’s tweet style. I’m not sure if the original story or the indignation it caused is more funny–or the fact that we all even know or care that the coach of our team “tweets”. I think we know too much about this stuff.

I confess I’m at a loss to see how the Twitter blarney (or baloney, in my humble opinion) helps with recruiting – is it really believable that prospects are going to be basing any kind of decision on a Coach’s two-thumbs-on-the-Blackberry stream of consciousness?

Maybe CW should assign Twitting duties to the grad assistants and concentrate on more important stuff.

i’m not sure that it does either. but i would bet that there are coaches that thought texting or facebook wouldnt ever be important either, yet there it is. i think a coach has to do this stuff, simply bc the competition will be.

Got some pretty humorous updates from CW today. Apparently word got around and some reporter asked him if he really was the guy behind the acocunt and he confirmed it. At least that’s what the twitter monster said.

But it also mentioned that he’s not allowed to accept or respond to personal addresses on it because it would violate recruiting rules. I wonder if this really is more about keeping fans/alumns up-to-date with everything going on with the team and less about recruits.

i’m sure it’s some combination of factors – it’s very pop culture-y right now, recruits will notice, fans will notice, coaches have big egos and figure people want to know all their thoughts, all kinds of stuff…

MSU did suck but boy did they take care of the Big East Teams.
I wish Gody had more support.
In my opinion Izzo is the best coach in BB. I would like to see him at ND.
Not much chance.
