Ouch.

FSU got freaking nailed by the NCAA for the absurdly-wide-ranging-cheating-ring that got busted up there, impacting football and another 9 sports at the “university”.

It’s about time that the NCAA actually did something.  It’s seems sort of strange that they go buck wild with penalties and convictions on a cheating-ring and don’t even TOUCH Reggie Bush raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars at USC, but hey, it is what it is I guess.

FSU will have to give up any wins in which an implicated player played in 2006-2007.   “Luckily” for FSU, they were pretty medicore those 2 years, netting 7 wins each season so that damage isn’t all that great.   So they could lose all 14 wins potentially, depending on whether any regular starters were netted up in the scandal.  It will probably not be all 14, but it could be double digits.  Ah, so sorry!

But, it hurts “Bobby B’s” chances at the all-time win record a little bit.  JoePa was just ahead of Bobby in all-time wins at 383 (vs Bobby’s 382) at the end of last season.   Bobby could drop below 370 this year, and with a weak Big Televen, JoePa could stretch the lead out of reach. 

Why do I care about this?  Not because I’m a JoePa or PSU fan, but because Bobby has somehow fooled the world into including his wins which head coaching Pop Warner, Muscolettoville Jr. High and D6 into his tally.  Why does everyone buy this?  It’s like everyone actually believing that Alabama has 73 MNCs – but in this case, they actually do!  JoePa’s wins are all at D1, and so that makes him seriously legit for this record.  I’m not a big supporter of Zombies holding NCAA Football records, but  Bobby is dicey and shady and doesnt deserve anything close to that honor so I’m happy for anything that screws him over.

Remember back when FSU was dominant and frustratingly great and consistent and all that?

Yeah, I barely remember it too.
