Yeah. We have no idea. We know that Ron Prince's name was rumored as a done deal, but if he's a done deal, then why hasn't he been announced considering former Irish OC, Haywood is already gone (and already hiring and announcing his own coordinators)? We also know that Mitch Browning, former OC at Minnesota back when they could run on everybody, was brought up, though that wasn't even so much rumor as suggestion by the masses. Now I see talk that Charlie might be waiting until after the NFL season to bring in a OC since that guy might still be involved in the playoffs, but that worries me, as I can't see a veteran NFL OC taking the ND OC job, which means if Charlie is waiting, he'd be waiting for a first-timer. We've already had too many first-timers on the ND staff in the last 4 years.
So, what's your guess? From which bucket will the new ND OC be picked?
Who Will Be ND's Next Offensive Coordinator?
- A veteran OC from the college ranks. (41%, 81 Votes)
- Weis will be the OC. He's only going to hire a new RB coach. (28%, 56 Votes)
- A first-timer from the pro ranks. (15%, 30 Votes)
- A veteran OC from the pro ranks. (11%, 22 Votes)
- A first-timer from the college ranks. (4%, 8 Votes)

Much as I would like to follow the poll, I think getting a successful OC would be a reach. Successful OC’s are considered for HC positions, not other OC positions. Not to say impossible-look at Tenuta on defense-just unlikely unless they come from the subdivision ranks.

You left off position coach from the NFL as one of the choices, which I think is more likely than an NFL OC to college OC move, though I hope the new OC does not come from the NFL at all.

Mike,
We figured a position coach from the NFL would probably fall under the “first timer from the pro ranks,” though we’ll concede that there’s a possibility that a position coach from the pro ranks could also be someone who had, at some point, been a OC at either the pro or college level. We just like keeping the polls simple.

I think we have enough NFL input on the squad to sufficiently confuse the team. We need NCAA guys in there.

They should promote Latana to OC for his recruiting skills and hire a new O-Line coach.
