"I felt it was a good decision for me not just in a football aspect but also a life aspect," said Wood, a 6-foot, 195-pound five-star running back from Santa Clara (Calif.) Oxnard.
"When you're an athlete, you should have more than just football to rely on. You should have also a Plan B and that's why I chose Notre Dame. They have one of the strongest alumni systems out there. I wanted to be connected that way and be set for life after football."
And, he thinks ND is the local nerd that gets beat up and has his lunch money stolen (DomerMQ can tell you all about this dynamic), and Cierre is the hero coming in to save the day:
"It's like (Notre Dame is) the nerd that everybody is picking on," Wood said. "Basically, I want to go there and not just me but everybody else who is coming too, we want to go there and change things around. We want to be known as the class that changed things around."
Also, Cierre Wood is fast. That is good too.

Good decision editor. Not sure why any real ND fan would want to disparage recruits–seems a bit counterproductive to me.
Did anyone read Haywood’s comment that he thought the offense got too complicated in the second half of the season? That would make sense. Clausen goes crazy against Purdue, Stanford, and NC, posts huge numbers, and then goes into a tailspin. If like most of us, Weis thought Clausen had reached Quinn like levels, he might have given him too much too soon. Then he gets a month or so to slow down, absorb some things, maybe simplify the package some and let your team’s superior athleticism show, and they play their best offensive game of the season.

Thanks, SD. I’m not sure why a real ND fan would act that way either. But I am sure of why non-ND fans would come on ND sites and make disparaging remarks about our recruits. Not sure that’s what Steve was doing, but we’ll protect against that pretty strictly.
Weis mentioned the same sort of “complexity” issue a few weeks ago. Might be something Weis still needs to learn: When in doubt, keep it simple, even if the kids seems to have “simple” mastered.
