One Knee Down, One To Go…

Weis’ surgery today was a success.

Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis underwent successful knee replacement surgery Monday on his right knee.

“The severe deterioration of the bone explains the severe pain he suffered the last three weeks,” Dr. Willard G. Yergler of South Bend Orthopedics Associates said in a statement released by the school.

Let’s all hope Weis’ rehab goes better than “Tommy’s” has gone.

I’ve had both knees replaced (at the same time).
CW will need about 4-6 months to recuperate. If he works hard at rehab he could be driving within about 2 weeks. Where did he have the operation?

TBone, I’m pretty sure ND’s resident sports doc did the surgery. I’m not sure what facility though. My dad had full replacement recently and it took him 6 months, and that was just one. Weis is in for a long recovery, especially given his more limited time to rehab between recruiting, coaching, etc

And the fact that his knees have to be strong enough to support a small building.
