I totally agree with your comment about the university and student body horror at whomping an opponent. It is just possible that the members of the football team – a sub set of these students,and fine young men all – are incapable of doing mean things such as dominating the guy across the line from you. And CW must share this train because the first quote from him after the loss to Pitt was that he was worried about the psyche of the team. THE PSYCHE OF THE TEAM?? Oh please.

I can’t even begin to tell you how it warmed my heart to read this entry. It’s not any type of shameful joy in seeing an ND fan rip his team and coach. I’m just happy to see “angry domer” back again. I’ve always liked domer better when he is angry, whether it is directed at Bob Davie, bad drivers, mass-produced beer, math, or Belgium it is always better to have an angry domermq than a happy one. Welcome back angy domer, you’ve been missed.

BigE, I totally appreciate and agree with your comment. However, I have to take issue with the ‘didnt he say we were gonna have a nasty team’ quote. It’s been played out a million times – coaches say lots of stuff and they don’t come true. Remember that 9-3 wasn’t good enough? I’m sure Weis would kill for 9-3 this year, and that doesn’t make him a liar. It makes him a coach that creates soundbytes. Same thing with the ’schematic advantage’. Everyone jumps on that – it’s a freaking quote from before he was even a coach! People need to quit asking for what was ‘promised’ and recognizet that Weis was saying what ND needed to hear at the time. Did he probably believe it? Yes, but he was also somewhat naive at the time – and I think he’d even agree to that. Sorry to jump on you BigE – your point is well taken and I agree and this isn’t aimed at you – just at everyone that brings up those quotes. Over and over.

Where is the killer instinct to put a team away? Didn’t Weis say he wants a nasty team? Didn’t Weis say the teams attitude should come from the head coach? Yet after the loss to Pitt, Weis says he’s worried about the teams psyche and that they feel bad! Damn right they should feel bad and quit coddling their psyche. They are football players damn it. Quit trying to out think their psyche. Can Weis grow a pair and kick someone in the ass with his good leg. Grab some face mask and get into their face. Nothing motivated me more than a pissed off coach breathing down my neck.

Craig, you think it was mystifying to watch? Try “watching” it at first on your Blackberry. That’s how I saw the game until I could see the replay. It was just 1s and 0s, and when you just watch the data stream like that, you really start to wonder, “What happened to Allen!? Is he hurt!?”
And then when I saw that 4th and 1, I didn’t really even give it a second thought. Those were sort of getting automatic for ND.
