This says he’s a safety.
Yeah, but we recruited him as a slot receiver, as I understand it.
I’ll put money on safety and return specialist for Mr. Oliver. We might see him on offense a bit while he waits in the defensive wings, but I think his biggest contribution will be on special teams. He needs to put on some weight to play on either side of the ball. Most schools have looked at this guy as a safety. We have a number of playmakers on offense. I’m not sure what he’d bring to the offense that Golden Tate doesn’t already. But we need defenders looking down the line…
But he’s also built for the slot, and he’s 2 years behind Tate. Remember folks, we have to recruit now for the world post-Jimmy, Tate, Floyd, etc. I know that seems to be forever from now, but that’s what Oliver may be - a plan for the future. Special Teams and building up his Wide Receiving Skillz, and working out, then stepping in as a complement to our 4th and 5th year stars, then taking over in the slot. He’s only 5′10″ and he runs a 4.4 - that’s slot WR material. He could end up as a Safety too, and I bet it’s 50/50, but CW will use him where he fits best, and it could be either. But the fact that he was recruited for the Slot makes me think that’s CW’s original plan.
