The good news: There is depth at the TE position. The bad news: There isn’t much experience.
Yeatman is a good blocker, I would’ve expected to see him on most running plays this season as it was. Rudolph has garnered some pretty good reviews from practice, although Weis says he doesn’t see the explosion off the line that you find in a more experienced player. Fauria is already a BIG kid and another option especially for running plays and Schmidt is going to get time as the H-back, kind of a Chris Cooley Jr. All in all, this could have been worse. If we had taken a hit at on of the line positions on either side of the ball, that would be much greater cause for concern. Ragone will be missed, but if there was to be an injury, it might as well be at a position that we have depth at.
Couldnt believe it when I saw it on NDnation. OOOOUCH!
Ragone being out isn’t as big as Walls, but this sucks. Ragone was looking good all practice, and also took a lickin’ all last year with the rest of the boys. His unit cohesion and all-around playing ability is needed. I wish him good luck during recovery. Hopefully, Rudolph, Fauria, and co. are ready to step up one year quicker.
Was just thinkin yesterday bout how lucky we’ve been so far regarding injuries. Now this. Shite. Don’t any of you kid yourselves, this is bad. Frosh aren’t meant to play as frosh except in mop up. See: last year. There is too much to learn and to much physical development needed. 1st yeato learn the system by watching, lift, and get used to college. Yeatman will be fine but it wouldve been much better with ragone in there. When 1 guy gets hurt and you have to turn to frosh it really shows 1) we r super young and 2) lack depth

Yep, this hurts. Saw Rudolph on campus this summer and was blown away by his size but I’d be much happier if he was just coming in for a few plays per game.
