I didnt feel like we gave up - i feel like they just played some inspired ball (and we didnt). Similar in some ways, but not the same in my eyes.

It sure felt like we gave up against Air Force last year. That was by far the most depressing sporting event I’ve ever been to.

Dude, after a night out tonight with Pac-10 fans, I see how delusional they are. People have been yelling at me all night about how ND’s SOS last year was terrible. TERRIBLE! they say, and they’re not joking. Good lord, how ignorant are people? I am happy to be back amongst my HLS brethren…

Are you somehow insinuating that the SEC is not the all time greatest collection of college football teams ever assembled? Blasphemy.

I do have a tremendous respect for the OOC scheduling done by USC and other PAC10 schools. I do wish UM would keep trying to have at least two strong OOC games a year (ND is supposed to be one of them), instead of ND, directional Mich school, MAC team, random team. Utah is a good team but just does not get the average fan excited.

Cal, ASU, and UCLA also have pretty good non-conf schedules.

On the PAC-10 with multiple rankings, I think Southern Cal throws out the equation a bit. They play such a strong schedule, it sort of “ups” the weight of the rest of the conference. The SEC could learn a thing or two.

Like I said, it’s a hunch with Cal. At least for me, and I think my vote is what got him in the T25 at all, so that tells you something. I just took a flier. I figure we’ll be about as accurate as the people that make picks based on uniform color.

I’m pretty sure Jahvid Best will be a very familiar name in college football fans’ minds, though.

Questions
What is the rationale for ranking Cal at all? Has tedford really earned the benefit of the doubt here?

in general, lots of love for the Pac10, I would assume ASU and USC would also be ranked? I don’t think you will see 5 Pac10 teams ranked at any time this year.

I don’t know about Illinois, the other QB is better IMO and losing Mendenhall will hurt.

I still think our homerism is out of whack. I’d put us at 25 in this poll, with all those tied for 25 ahead of us at 24. Just seems like a stretch. But hey, the title DOES have an asterisk, so I guess we’re set.
