“A home phone number could not be found”. I feel bad for this kid. I’m spending the summer working with inner city kids, and there is a huge correlation between family problems and behavioral issues. These kids are screwed right from the outset of life. I’m obviously not saying he should be let off the hook, but I don’t like seeing all these other Notre Dame fans, most of whom grew up in a nice neighborhood with two parents, gleefully pile on this kid.

Greg, this is as much of an indictment of whoever is advising him (lawyer, parents, coaches, whoever) as it is Mr. Grady. With evidence like what they have, pleading Not Guilty is madness. He should plead guilty, take whatever deal they offer, and try to graduate. Fighting it won’t help one bit. The Not Guilty wreaks of ignorance (in which case someone at the school should be helping him with that) or hubris (which isn’t unlikely in a D1 CFB player)…

And yes, kids do stupid things. I did. But it’s not THAT hard to not drive drunk. Lots of kids have challenges growing up, not much of a home life, etc. I get that. But they also are being educated (for free) and should know better than this. Especially at .25 or whatever BAC he blew.

Greg, save it, the Grady’s have money. This is not an “inner city kid” thing. And if you didn’t know, I am a Michigan fan
