Friday Roundup: The “Crap. Taste Is Here.” Edition
domer.mq
It’s the weekend before the Fourth O’July, when Chicago deploys every cop ever hired by the city to write out parking tickets, half of the city’s population stands in a 45 minute line for a single potato chip to take the “Lay’s Taste Test Challenge,” tens of thousands of men and women wear tank tops when they really, really shouldn’t, countless photos are taken of the obese eating “cheesecake on a stick” and “plate of deep fried something,” and domer.mq is reminded that he really, deep down, resents the ever living hell out of humanity.
And then domer.mq sees this, and everything’s all good.
Where the Hell is Matt? (2008) from Matthew Harding on Vimeo.
I love you guys. Eh, screw you guys.
The Roundup:
- The University of Cincinnati: Nebraska for a new millennium.
- Stewart Mandel, unlike Matt Zemek, seems to have at least a basic understanding of our economic system.
- Good old Beano Cook. We can always count on him for something.
- I’m wondering if Pat White’s hype and Dick Rod’s coaching ability are mutually exclusive.
- A pretty big name in the College Football Mainstream Media world is jumping ship from the SS Deathspiral.
- Former Navy Blogger Extraordinaire and friend of HLS, Adam Nettina, has some ND thoughts at about minute 54.
- If Bad Kermit keeps this up, Mariotti will be asking for a security escort on the internet. PS – Suck it, North.
- Hey, speaking of sucking, Matt Zemek’s piece that we ripped the other day is no longer available. Perhaps it was because Matt showed the same level of understanding of a free market society as possessed by an 11 year old Taliban recruit. Perhaps it was because someone with some power saw our rip-job. More than likely its because stuff like that eventually happens to you when you’re a dick.
- And this week’s Beer O’The Week is: Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA, because Taste of Chicago makes me think of July 4th. And July 4th makes me think of Delaware. And Delaware makes me think of Dogfish Head. And Dogfish Head makes me think of goodness.

You are absolutely right about the Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. It is a delightful ale. Do have to watch the alcohol content. It is 9%. Best not to chug-a-lug this one.
Dogfish Head 60 Minute is about as good with less alcohol. 6%. Memory will still be intact the next day.
mark,
The 60 minute is probably a better summer sipper anyway. Good call. But when I start thinking Dogfish, I immediately think 90. Then I have to work my way thru the rest of their brews.
I wish they’d sell the Red & White wit rather than the Festina Peche though. Sometimes they rely too much on “unusual,” particularly in their seasonals.
I don’t care what you guys say, the dancing guy video brought a smile to my face. Looks a lot like domer too, eery.
I go 60 over 90 every time. Better taste, less filling. Hey…I should trademark that shit.
I am very impressed about your beer tastes/knowledge and of course, spirit for ND football (thought you guys were from Chicago. What’s with Delaware and Dogfish Head?). Since you have knowledge of both, you should start a Beer O’The Weekend Starting for Sept 5. Maybe it will give the OL some push and the DL some rush. Somewhere amid your selections you need to select a Three Floyd’s brew (just my opinion).
we are multi-state mark. chicago, IL, wisconsin and good ole cali. the beers will be just as diverse.
thanks for reading!
Oh sure, play favorites to the WISCONSIN crowd! Damn you Biscuit!
Wow, the video was awesome!
