Numbers Assigned

The Biscuit

With the new, very talented, frosh checking in on campus for summer school this week, things are starting to happen.  One of those fun-and-exciting-things is that the newly minted football team members are getting their numbers.

B&G does a great job of the historical background, so I just have a few comments:

  • Mikey Floyd taking #3 shows he has some cojones.  I am calling this one:  he’ll live up to the number.
  • Ethan Johnson and Kyle Rudolph sharing #9 is pretty sweet.  Especially since Johnson is on the DL.  #9 on the front line? I like it.
  • Dayne Crist would like to follow in Brady Quinn’s footsteps.  Getting #10 makes sense then.
  • Darius Fleming took Rudy’s number, 45.  Somehow, I don’t see this as a similar story.  Rather, it will be: Destroy Offenses from Day 1.
  • Brandon Newman took the anchor, #99.  When he and Johnson line up next to one another someday, we’ll have 999…ways to the quarterback that is, oh!

All these numbers got me thinking - we should really share our team members’ numbers with you all.  So, for the first time, we reveal them here:

  • Bad Kermit - #0.  Dude never posts anymore.  Just comes around to mock pretty much anything I say, so he’s gettin’ the goose egg.
  • SChisamo - #3.  Obvious reasons.  Just ask his wife.
  • Father Birdonnell - #69.   Irony.
  • DomerMQ - #2.  “Who does #2 work for?”  MQ gets this number because he’s the shit.  And #2.  Get it?
  • The Biscuit - #1.  Who else?

What’s your number?

 Go Arsh.

Face,

Speaking of old HS numbers. I was #9 one year and I played NT as well as WR. If we received the ball first, and I started at WR, then our first defensive series often resulted in 1 false start or a called time out for the opposition because they couldn’t figure out what the hell #9, the WR, was doing at NT.

I should have kept that number.

LOL,that could be confusing alright. I played NT too & DT depending on the call. Always on Defense, too dumb to learn the offensive plays.
