Thank You Recruiting
The Biscuit
This week ND picked up its 8th commit of the class in Punter Ben Turk.
For me, this is one of the best gets we could get. Ben’s a good punter. And just as important, he’s a PUNTER. Eric Maust will be solid this year after filling in at times last year. This I know. But it’s great to see a succession plan in place here, as Ben will join in Eric’s senior season. Charlie and Co have said that special teams is a priority, and now it looks like it is on the recruiting trail as well.
A few notes about Ben from the linked B&G article:
“Ben is a tough, tough kid. You have to understand that first and foremost. He is an athlete who can get after people. In the weight room, he might be our strongest pound-for-pound. That is why he will fit in at Notre Dame when the weather turns sometime later in the fall,” [his Coach] Smith said.
So, Ben is strong and an athlete, which is always good. He may have to make a tackle here or there. And, according to his coach, that translates into dealing well with the elements. Ummm, okay, great! If you say so Coach I am with you.
“He is carrying a 4.32 grade point average right now. He is an outstanding student who is very, very intelligent but he is a kid who also works hard at getting good grades and being an all-around student,” Smith concluded.
Yes, a smart kid.
Smart enough, most likely, not to punt the dog:
Now, let’s go get us a serious kicker since we’re serious about Special Teams. SERIOUSLY.

Is he related to Matt Turk in any way?
Yep. Matt Turk is his uncle. In the genes, nice.
