Release the Puns! Dan Fox Commits!

St. Ignatius High School (Cleveland, OH) linebacker and inevitable victim of horrible puns, Dan “Crazy Like A” Fox, has committed to play football at the University of Notre Dame!

Dan apparently held 18 scholarship offers, which is just 17 more than I had! (Occidental College, it just never would have worked out between us. Oh how I loved your climate though.)
Congrats, and welcome to the family, Dan!

rumor has it we MAY get Alex Bullard, a stud OL prospect from TN, tomorrow. at the least, we’re in contention. and potentially a favorite.
Bullard would be a great get. He seems like a great kid and right in ND’s wheelhouse.
Glad to see recruiting is picking up. I was encouraged reading Phil Steele analysis on ND whom he picks to be the #1 most improved team. Good analysis until I saw he picked John Ryan #39 out of 66 top OLB in the country. No mention of K. Neal or B. Smith though he picked K. Neal as the #49 best ILB out of 55. Now my confidence is a shaken.
Phil’s methodology is pretty simple. # of returning starters plus difficulty of schedule = ranking. Since we return a ton of players and our schedule gets easier, we jump up to 19. It’s a bit naive, but it’s worked for years. He should have an experience quotient of those starters (a 4th year starter is worth more than 2nd year starter, and a 2nd year starting senior is worth more than a 2nd year starting sophomore, assuming similar talent levels).
But recruiting is going well. Slow compared to last year - but last year we were on fire early. This year it’s TX and USC off to a fast start. That’ll change year to year - I’m just happy seeing us land all these quality, quality guys. Again.
I noticed Pitt was thrilled to get their first verbal this week. By comparison, given last year’s record, we’re being spoiled.
Wasn’t this kids older brother a CB at OSU? Seems like an athlete, nice get.
