I disagree with your point about doing well in the Director's Cup meaning a lot of near misses. ND had a lot of near misses this season, and it was only good for 15th, which is pretty much de rigeur for the Irish. If we aspire to the level of Stanford in the Cup, we need to win championships.

As a Subway Alum I agree that a ND grad is the first requirement. All thoughts must be on what is best for ND while displaying justice to others.

I don't know if I agree with your BCS part. While it'd be a good thing for sure, anyone that's had significant management experience in an academic, sports or business setting should have the required experience sorting through BS, egos and the like to get the job done right.

I'm most concerned with someone that 'gets' ND. I'll probably post something along those lines when I have a moment, so I wont lose my shite here. I know there are a ton of things this person needs, but that is first and foremost number 1 after you get past all the basic stuff (smart, experienced, blah blah blah...)

The new AD should and will get the ball rolling from day one in office. Besides scheduling, the new AD needs to spearhead and speed up the process on the facilities and also with fund raising.

Dr. White was too much of a micro-manager when it came to fund raising.

Face,

It could be pretty immediate. At least from a scheduling point of view.

domer, how long do you think it would be before the new ADs presence is felt in the football program?I think not until after next season as there is no reason for any big changes at present.

That list was made by the BOT and from Fr. Jenkins' office. I've had a list of potential AD's way back and found an article of my list:

If it was me doing the hiring, it would be Gene Smith. Definitely a Notre Dame man has be in charge.
