BREAKING: Lou Holtz To Rejoin Notre Dame as Athletic Administrator

domer.mq - 12:00 am

Yes! As many of our readers know, we fired former Notre Dame Athletic Administrator Kevin White ages ago, but the University elected not to hire a replacement. Until now! And oh, what a replacement!

The University of Notre Dame has announced that former Head Football Coach Lou Holtz has been hired as the university’s athletic director. Holt’z tenure will begin immediately.

Holtz lead the Fighting Irish football team to a National Championship in 1988. He was also named National Coach of the Year in 1977 and 1988. During his collegiate coaching career, Hotlz compiled a record of 249-132-7, good for 8th all time by wins in Division 1-A.

Holtz will be replacing Dr. Kevin White, who has stepped down from the position in order to be more active in the city of Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic games.

(Story Developing…)

Obviously there will be a ton of media attention on this story as dorks all over the media and internet postulate that this must mean the end is near for the Charlie Weis era if Weis does not bring the football team back up to par. I really prefer not to think about that right now. It’s true that Lou will serve as a very strong presence within the AD office – one that is capable of firing a Charlie Weis if need be, but it’s clear that Notre Dame is more concerned with having an AD that “gets it.” We already know Weis “gets it.” The problem was Kevin White didn’t “get it.” Luckily the Chicago 2016 campaign is really heating up. It’s one of the few things in the sporting world “bigger” than ND football – at least to Kevin White. Still, I hope he didn’t so much “step down” as he did “catch himself after being tossed to the curb.”

Welcome back, Lou!
