Just amazing. Literally hours after “discovering” that Greg Mattison might be leaving the Gators to take a job in the NFL, Urban Meyer has managed to hire a brand new assistant head coach, defense. Just incredible. This guy is a mover and a shaker, people! He must have the most kick ass Franklin Planner ever seen. Seriously, it would take me longer to dig up someone’s phone number than it took for Meyer to scout the terrain, find a few candidates, narrow the field down to one, get the administration to complete due diligence, and then get the contract signed, sealed, and delivered.

No wonder Omar Hunter signed with Florida. He never had to wonder for one minute who was going to be his position coach. First, he knew for sure that it was Greg Mattison, and then BOOM, just like that, it’s Dan McCarney. Remarkable.
