ESPN Says Charlie Weis Was ‘Offended’ by Roast Remarks
As we mentioned in our rundown of today’s press conference by Charlie Weis, Charlie expressed some thoughts about Dana Jacobson’s remarks at the Mike & Mike Roast last month.
Q. And lastly, I believe you were a participant in the roast for Mike & Mike, and there was a situation involving one of the ESPN employees. If you could offer your take on that situation, what transpired that night.
COACH WEIS: Are you referring to Dana?Q. Dana Jacobson, yes.
COACH WEIS: Well, I’ll just say three things, okay. I was both personally and professionally offended by her comments. And if the situation were reversed, and that were me saying them, two things would have happened. I would have been the lead story on SportsCenter, and I would have been fired. But other than that, the University has issued an official response, and I think it’s best to leave it at that.
See? He literally says, “I was both personally and professionally offended by her comments.” So the question for ESPN is why did they write this headline in a story about Charlie Weis’ thoughts in this way, “Notre Dame coach says he was ‘offended’ at roast remarks?” (No link, F them.) Why the use of the oh-so-clever single-quotes by a supposedly reputable, non-agenda-driven media source? He wasn’t figuratively offended. He was literally offended. Do they not take him seriously?
Did they not take anyone who said they were offended by Jacobson seriously?
I think I’ll start getting my news from The Onion.
Hey! Look! They’re opening a Walmart in Cuba!
