Michigan Gets Coach, Loses Players

We all know that Dickie Rod was hired to coach the University of Michigan.   Now we all know that all his skill players are outta there like swimwear.

Henne, Hart, Long to graduate.

And big-time recruit Ryan Mallet has bailed on the program as of today.  As MQ has mentioned, he wants a pro-style offense.  And no matter what Dickie Rod and his minions try to say about his spread offense (references to his past coaching successes with pro-style QB’s a decade ago don’t negate the fact that his offense is built for athletic, running QB’s folks), there just wasn’t a fit.

“It just wasn’t a fit” according to Mallet’s Dad.

See?

Apparently Mallet will check out Tennessee (I’d say no to that Ryan - Cutliffe is now at Duke, which means the offense will suck again.  Badly.), UCLA and A&M.   UCLA is a good situation for the kid if Mr. Gambler can get things figured out over there, but TN is the good bet if Debord is hired.

All the UM receivers are out as well.  Adrian Arrington has already declared:

“Today is a very emotional day for me,” Arrington said in a statement released by the school on Wednesday. “As much as I will miss my teammates, friends and Michigan football family, I have always dreamed about playing in the NFL.

And I would be shocked if Mario doesn’t join him shortly.

So how’s Michigan going to look next year with its top skill players (Henne, Hart, Manningham, Mallet, Arrington) and its all-world O-line member (Long) long gone?

Pretty, in my eyes.

They’d be a whole lot prettier if they had a three-year gap in OL recruitment, too, though.

God, I hope we nuke those fuckers.

Rodriguez confirmed already that Manningham is leaving, too. That team is getting a total overhaul. Maybe they should take a peek at ND’s ‘07 campaign to see how that’s gonna feel.
