Did Urban Meyer Violate a Recruiting Rule?
domer.mq
Look, we all know that Urban Meyer is a sociopathic liar, but is he also an idiot?
“TONY RICCO” at NDN pointed out this story about Urban using Tim Tebow’s Heisman win as a recruiting opportunity. Oh, he also used Tim Tebow as a recruiting tool.
Almost immediately after winning the Heisman Trophy, Tim Tebow, holding firm on the hardware on a New York stage and the sporting world watching his every move, was handed a cell phone.
It wasn’t his mother on the other line, or any of his hometown buddies. It was Carl Moore.
“Carl!” the Florida quarterback practically yelled to the Sierra College receiver planted on his mother’s couch near Placerville, “I just won the Heisman! Come on down here, and let’s win a national championship!”
Moore thanked the quarterback for the chat and urged him to phone his mother before she caught wind of this. Might that be Tebow’s first hookup with Moore? At the very least, it was another spin on an otherwise whirlwind recruiting session for Moore, the community college All-American receiver who graduated from Cordova High School. Florida coach Urban Meyer placed the call and then placed the device in the hands of Tebow.
Huh. And as “SavageDragon” points out, that sure seems like a violation of NCAA recruiting rules.
13.02.5.2 Impermissible Recruitment Activities for Enrolled Student-Athletes.
(b) Telephone calls. Enrolled student-athletes or other enrolled students shall not make or participate in telephone calls to prospective student-athletes at the direction of a coaching staff member or financed by
the institution or a representative of its athletics interests.
Sure seems like Tim Tebow, who, from what I can tell, is an “enrolled student-athlete” of Florida. And it sure seems like Urban handing Tim the phone right after the guy won the Heisman counts as “direction of a coaching staff member.” And I’ll bet that particular cell phone is “financed by the institution.”
Did Urban just screw up? Is there a loop hole that I don’t know about? Is Urban an idiot? Is Urban a rat fucker with a reservation to bunk with OJ Simpson in the afterlife? I’m confident one of those questions, at the least, will be answered in the affirmative.

uh, yeah. i’d say he did. someone get the NCAA on the line. normally i’d say ‘everyone does it so let it go’, but a rule is a rule and there’s proof. bust his @$$.
Tebow is an athlete, not sure if he’s a “student”.
Yeah take a shot a Tebow, because you’re so smart. And oh if Meyer was diong that I’m sure he’s not the idiot you claim to be if he recruited like that in Public. THe guy’s not blatantly dumb
Pete,
Nice typing job, buddy. You really hit your point home with your spelling of “THe” and “dion.” I’m convinced!
Oh no! did you just make fun of my typing ability and confuse it with my inability to SPELL?
How about this, go shove a Wolverine up your …nevermind go FCUK yourself
whoops I guess I wouldn’t spell that either, but I made thatpoint pretty clear.
Hail to the Fagtors!
Pete, he is that dumb and it was in public. It’s being investigated by the NCAA. Oh, and Jimmy Johnson mentioned his breaking of the rules on TV during the NC game. But, you can misspell and type in ALL CAPS, so we must be wrong.
Did I type in “ALL CAPS” Triscuit? I’m sorry, but I am right. Oh, and if you remember Meyer can call a recruit once a week. That was said on the air too, but you must be right because you have inside connections to who the NCAA is investigating. Thanks douche
Pete,
It’s “as to whom the NCAA is investigating.”
Going through life without any idea as to how to properly communicate your thoughts must be frustrating.
It sure is…thank god for you guys
See? You should have written, “It sure is. Thank god for you guys.”
You end sentences with periods.
It’s easy to remember. Just recite, “This sentence ends with a period.”
You’re welcome.
Look in the mirror and say to yourslef, “I’m a douche.”
What’s a “yourslef?”
Pete, did the nurse forget to give you all of your pills today?
I really shouldn’t pick on people with poor motor-skills.
[...] Urban takes the time out to direct a Florida Student Athlete, Tim Tebow, to talk to recruit Carl Moore (yes, the Carl Moore from the other story above) immediately after Tebow wins the Heisman, in what seems like a pretty obvious violation of NCAA rules. [...]

there ya go buddy
This story is old, but this site isn’t exactly mainstream. I wonder if there is any connection with this being a Notre Dame site, and the fact that Urban Meyer said no thanks to the ‘Irish coaching job? Oh, and then went on to win a National Championship in his 2nd year. Meanwhile the ‘decided schematic advantage’ may get his team to the International Bowl if he can work his magic on that powerhouse Navy squad…
Little Late,
It’s not very nice of your parents to name you thusly, but it certainly seems apt.
Did ya happen to notice the time-stamp on our post? It’s an old post.
And if we’re not real mainstream, how the hell did you stumble on us?
Little late, indeed.
