An Open Letter to Bob Kuechenberg

domer.mq

Bob,

You gigantic twit, you went and ruined a good thing. For years now Notre Dame Football fans have relished calling Boston College “Fredo.” But that’s all over now. And you’ve caused that. Because when rational people are presented with the option of calling one thing or another by a name, they must use the most fitting name for the most fitting thing. I’m explaining what rational people do, Bob, because I’m not sure you are rational yourself. And so now, while “Fredo,” fit so well with that ne’er-do-well, Boston College, you’ve forced us to rip that name-tag from BC’s chest and smack it down upon your forehead. You are such an embarrassment, Bob. Don’t you have some drinking to do or something? How have you found so much time to flap your mouth to the media, repeating, at best, rumor and innuendo about the program and Charlie Weis while there’s so much drinking to be done?

And how can you go around talking trash about Weis’ ability to coach if you can’t remember how well Weis did over his first two years out of a total of three years? You were there, Bob! You had season tickets in 2005! Do you even remember what you had for breakfast, Bob? What sort of fan can’t remember that much?

You speak of honor and what it means to be a “Notre Dame Man,” with the same apparent level of understanding that a Michigan football player speaks of algebra.

Do us all a favor, Bob. Forget Notre Dame, because we’re about ready forget about you. The clock’s coming up on 14:59, Bob, and then you can get back to wondering why everyone else on your Dolphins offensive line is in the Hall without you. Hell, I’m a Notre Dame Football addict, and I’d never heard of you until you started to run your mouth. Way to go Bob, you’ve entered the national consciousness on the same level as the cast of The View. Never step foot upon campus again, Bob. And if you can’t help yourself, just know that every time you look upon the Golden Dome, Mary’s back is turned to you. You took sides against the family, Fredo. That was unwise. You could have addressed all of these concerns and kept them in the family, but you just couldn’t help yourself, could you, Fredo?

Good bye, Fredo.

From Wikipedia on The Kuch:It’s another chapter in the grumpy Kuechenberg story. It’s Kuechenberg. He gets up every year and complains about something. If it ain’t one thing, it’s another. He needs a hug and a hobby. It’s ridiculous.

F that dude. Who the hell is he anyway? I just know him as someone that can get radio time, and uses it to bash Charlie.

Hey guys…a little insight on the matter. I know Kuenchenburg…and he’s far from being bitter and an idiot. He’s a smart, level headed guy. When all of us down here were drinking the “Saban Coolaid” just last year, Kuech spoke out loud about what a douche Saban was…and that he “ought to be impeached”. Oh, the South Florida Dolphin fans were aghast! Well…six short weeks later, Saban was (and is) Enemy Number One (Osama bin Saban). So, looks like Kuech was incredibly right on that one. Now, in the midst of a season just as embarrassing as our 0-10 Dolphins, Notre Dame fans are sticking up for their arrogant, clueless coach…and want to insult one of the all time great Notre Dame players and alumni. Nice!

I’ll admit that I was put off last year when Kuenchenburg came out against Saban. But, he was sage then…and now he has the balls to speak the truth again. Let’s meet at this site again next year…and see what all of you have to say about Coach Weis….and compare notes!

SoFloSportsFan,
When a blind squirrel keeps looking for a nut long enough, he’s going to find it.

Kuechenburg hasn’t met a complaint he hasn’t embraced in 30 years, or, at least, that’s what I’ve heard from friends that I trust. Then again, I’ve never met the guy. Kinda like Kuech has never met Weis.

Kuech doesn’t get to consider himself part of the ND family when he’s actively trying to hurt the program and embarrass the school. He’s got issues, then if he’s such a bigwig he should be able to find people in the program, at some level, to whom he can voice those opinions. He’s just attention grabbing.

Further, no matter the record in 2008, if Weis goes 0-12, that doesn’t justify what Kuech, uh, I mean, Fredo, has done.

So…the Fredo analagy…and crossing the family is a good one…at 1-9 you must be talking about his brothers Harpo, Groucho, and Chico. Nice family.

SoFloSportsFan,
Since you know Kuech, tell him if he doesn’t like this family, he can feel free to stop coming around when the times are good.

Kuech is still a tool. As MQ said above, if we’d been 0-12 this year, that doesn’t make it right.

Well said, mike. Wait. No. Poorly said. You write with all the intellect of a demented earth worm. If you and Kuech are typical representatives of the Hobart, IN school system, perhaps it’s time to shut down that system.

By the way, what was it he said again…??? I’m gonna go eat my buggers now.

Ok, to all of you people who think Kuechenberg is a horrible person and hates his family, you can not be farther than the truth. Bob is my uncle and is a great person. He paid his dues to his team and was a great linemen. So what if he thinks Weis is a bad coach, the fact of the matter is it is true. He speaks his mind so stop crying about it.

At June 4th, 2009 at 11:40 am, domer.mq said...

max,
We’re just speaking our mind. Stop crying about it.

I would like to agree with you about the fact that this Mike person “writes with all the intellect of a demented earth worm.” However I too graduated from Hobart and as you see I am doing just fine. So please dont judge our whole town and school system based on the extreamly poor writing ability of one person. I have met Bob Kuenchenburg several times, and even though he may be grumpy and old he is a good person with a kind heart. And lets face it, we too will be old and grumpy someday. Being grumpy and crazy a right of passage when you get old and I plan to take full advantage of it when my time comes. Everytime I hear Kuenchenburg talk about his family it is always in a loving caring way. I find it amazing that a man like Kuechenberg turns into a huge teddy bear when commenting on his family. As for Kuenchenburg thinking that Weis is a bad coach, its old news. If you are going to hate him for that then you should also make web page for Jonathan Chait, a writer for Slate. His Oct. 25, 2007 article title was “The Worst Football Coach in the Universe.” He says many horrid things about Coach Weis and I quote, “So, Weis is obviously not a great coach—no great coach has ever underperformed so grossly—and he may well be a terrible one. So, why was he ever hailed as a genius in the first place?” I think that comment alone is alot worse then anything Kuechenberg said. And please do not try to say that i am not all for Notre Dame. I have season tickets for football and take my seat every home game in the faculty section. Notre Dame also pays the bills in my household. I am not saying who i think is right or wrong, I think that we should put the past behind us and move forward. Whats done is done. Please stop making fun of Kuechenberg. And may the Irish have a great season.

AbbyAnn,

Welcome to July, 2009. We wrote this post on Kuchenberg on November 14, 2007.

“What’s done is done,” indeed.

At July 28th, 2009 at 1:25 pm, AbbyAnn said...

Thank you I am very aware of the date. However I see your last post before mine was June 4th 2009. If you were relly done with the whole thing then you wouldnt have responded to my post. Or to any post in 2009 for that matter. If it is really over for you then shut the page down and make a new page that talks about the good things going on in the Notre Dame family community.

At July 28th, 2009 at 1:30 pm, The Biscuit said...

Abbyann, if people come and comment on our site, we respond. If you want it to die, I’d suggest you stop bringing it up. See, now the latest comment will be today, 7/28/09.

And we’re not going to ‘take things down’. We have archived posts all the way back to when this site was a itty bitty baby. We don’t really care about this dude that likes his family, but acts an ass in public. But it seems that people won’t just stop talking about it. And that’s not our fault.

At July 28th, 2009 at 2:01 pm, AbbyAnn said...

Die is such a strong word… I’m sorry i did not explan myself compleatly. I do not want you to shut your site down. I am very happy to see you put your efforts into something like this. I am also happy to find other people who love Notre Dame football as much as I do who are outside my family. However i was refered to this page by someone who read what you wrote. They were upset and told me that all Notre Dame fans were rude and mean. Being a fellow Notre Dame fan I do not want to believe that you all are accually like that. I understand that people post on your site and you respond, however most of the things written were not in a possitive light. And please don’t think i am only talking about you, Mike the Hobart twit was also very negative. I was just suggesting that you write about the good things in ND football rather then the bad.

At July 28th, 2009 at 2:35 pm, domer.mq said...

That doesn’t sound like much fun, AbbyAnn. Besides, I’m sure Keuch can take the ribbing. He’s a big, tough, never-gonna-get-into-the-hall-ex-football-player.

At July 28th, 2009 at 3:26 pm, The Biscuit said...

Also, we’re very positive on this site. We’re positive that Michigan sucks. That Urban Meyer is a cheating piece of scum and that ND rules. You’ve chosen a single post that your friend mentioned and made that the focus of your response. Shouldn’t you read the other 1,398 posts we’ve put into the web-o-sphere before making your request? What if that was the only negative thing (it’s not) we posted and you based your opinion on this one article? Shouldn’t you put in the time and research before condemning us unfairly? Wouldn’t that be just?

Also, MQ didn’t mock all of Hobart as you refer to above. Go back and read what he wrote please.

Finally, we love ND. But we reserve the right to mock those that deserve mocking. It’s all in good fun, so long as people don’t go against ND, or us. Ever. Because we are always right.

At July 28th, 2009 at 5:06 pm, AbbyAnn said...

Oh no, I did read some of your other posts. And you say I’m quick to judge. I liked the one written toward parents of football players. It was very convincing to me and not just because I am from a football family or a Notre Dame family. I agree with some of the things that you write and disagree with other things. I, however, was drawn to this one because I am from Hobart and the Kuechenbergs are family friends. So I may know a very different Bob Kuechenberg then the one you do. And I never said that anyone mocked Hobart. Since you asked me to go back and read, can you return the favor? I asked that people not judge the Hobart schools based on the pathetic response in which Mike thought he was sticking it to you. It was more of a statement for everybody reading this then just you. I am ashamed that he stated so clearly that he was from Hobart because, lets face it, he made the people of Hobart sound as unintelligent as he truely is. I also aggree with what you said about Michigan. They are not the best preforming team in my opinion. If you didnt notice we are fighting on the same side. We both love the Irish and we both are pro Coach Weis. We just use two totally different battle plans. When I heard what Bob said about Coach Weis I stood up as tall as i could (I am only 5′4″ so i look really small compaired to him) and told him that he just made an ass out of himself in front of alot of people. You just bash him on the internet. I’m not saying it’s wrong, it’s just different then what i did. We had the same goal we just had two differet ways of achieving it. And last i do not agree with the thought that you guys are always right. However that is just because i am a woman and I believe that I am always right. Sorry, its nothing against you. All girls are like that. Im sure your wives and girlfriends know what i mean.

To all the Domers who like to refer to BC as Fredo: Watch the movie again.

Fredo is not Michael’s incompetent younger brother. Fredo’s is Michael’s incompetent OLDER brother, who comes on the scene late, yet passes Fredo and renders him insignificant.

Notre Dame was founded in 1844. BC was founded in 1863.

Who’s Fredo now, bitch?

Whatever, Fredo.

I just love that Matt felt the need to end his comment with “bitch.” Just a typical BC guy unable to fish the depths of the English language to make his point beyond the typical line length of a beauty school drop out.

At August 18th, 2009 at 12:45 pm, BJDomer said...

I think Matt’s right, though. BC seems much more like Jan Brady than Fredo.

OK, it’s two years later, ND and Weis are awful, everybody says he needs to go, ND owes Weis 18 million, 6-4 record from a team that lots said was national championship material. I GUESS BOB KUECHENBERG IS A GENIUS!!!!!

Actually, Max, Kuechenberg is still a gigantic, sad jerk.

And you don’t have a clue what ND owes Weis.

What’s sadder than Bob Kuechenberg? Max.

Dumber boy, check out the link below for buyout info. Hopefully your sad self was able to get a full refund on those airline tickets and hotel for January 7th. Probably were because you could have applied months ago. Don’t worry though, you and Weis always have next year, then the next, then the next, and then the next!
