Mike Hart is a Tool
Michigan beat Michigan State last week. Whoopeee. What’s more interesting is the talk that occurred afterwards. First, Mike Hart reminded all of us that he’s a tool.
“Sometimes you get your little brother excited when you’re playing basketball, and you let him get the lead, and then you come back and take it back.”
We all kind of think that same thing, but Hart went out and said it publicly to the media right after the game. Tool-bag-ish move? Yes. And it fired up the MSU staff:
“If they want to mock us, I’m telling them, it’s not over,” the first-year MSU coach [Dantonio] said. “They can print all that crap they want all over their locker room. It’s not over. It’ll never be over here. It’s just starting. I find a lot of things they do amusing. They need to check themselves sometimes. Let’s just remember pride comes before the fall.”
How hilarious is that? This is their Head Coach. Could you imagine Charlie saying “check yourself before you wreck yourself Michigan!”. No. But that’s awesome. It’s nice to see a Coach stand up for his program and team when someone makes an assanine statement like Hart’s. It may make the coach seem a bit young/immature/petty, but it’s incredibly amusing.
Hart might also want to ‘check his-self’ with all of the trash talk. Michigan is looking at a fairly diminished team next year, when they’ll be losing a number of senior leaders and all of their ‘big name’ starting talent with the exception of Frosh QB Mallett. The team loses Hart, Henne, Manningham (if he goes pro), OG Senior Kraus and OT planet Jake Long, as well as a number of starting LB’s and both starting Safeties. It’s a fairly deep team, with nowhere near the depth issues that ND is facing this year, but given Dantonio’s roster Michigan may be looking at an even tougher game from MSU next year.
Hopefully there will be another tool in that game to take Hart’s place. I love in-family squabbles. Michigan (and Hart) just better hope that the little brother doesn’t learn how to fight.

You know, I actually dislike MSU a lot more than Michigan these days. Truth be told, I root for Michigan most of the time when they aren’t playing against the Irish. Let’s face it, the ND/Michigan rivalry is really a secondary rivalry for both schools; our biggest rival historically is USC, and Michigan’s is OSU. I don’t like MSU because they have no class as a program, as they showed with the flag incident a few years ago. So, I say, good for Mike Hart. MSU deserves to get treated that way, and they can whine all they want about it; getting respect starts with treating others with respect, and MSU hasn’t done anything lately to meet that pre-condition. I won’t feel bad for them getting dissed until they do.
Every time Mike Hart opens his mouth arrogance oozes out. He’s a tool, asshat, dipshit….
Manorman91, you must not be a real Notre Dame fan if you root for scUM.
Actually, I can’t really blame Hart for what he said so much. Michigan State has been trash-talking this matchup since Dantonio was hired and Michigan hadn’t said a damn thing about it all season until they beat Sparty. Dantonio even tried to rub in the loss to App St. and say that MSU would hold a moment of silence for Michigan regarding the game. They pulled off a difficult feat: Making Michigan look like the classy team. And while we may not like Mike Hart, I know for damn sure that I would take as many guys with his pride, drive and intensity on our current team. I live in Michigan and hate them more than anyone else save $C and the other UM but anyone who looks at that guy objectively has to appreciate the kind of football player that he is.
I didn’t say I like MSU - they fall right next to MI in the ’suck’ column. No love for Sparty. Ever. And I didn’t say Hart isn’t a hell of a football player. He is. But I did say he’s a tool - saying what he said to national papers? Tool-bag-eration.
Hey Biscuit, I get what you are saying. Didn’t mean to imply that you liked MSU. Its just for me, personally, this doesn’t bother me so much because he said it about MSU. I know it was an asshat thing to say, and I would be pretty upset if ANY of OUR players said something like it about any other team (MSU included). Its just that if there is one team out there that does enough asshat things itself that it deserves a little asshat treatment in return, to me that seems to be MSU.
Ryan, let me get this straight; your argument is that to be a “true” Notre Dame fan, instead of just loving ND football, I have to actively dislike other programs, just beause ND plays against them. By that logic, in order to be a true fan of the Biscuit, I have to actively dislike Domer, just because they occassionally disagree.
My argument is that I can be a true fan of ND football and only dislike other programs that do stupid and moronic things, like MSU. So in other words, I can be a fan of the Biscuit and still like what the Domer has to say, and vice versa, and reserve my dislike for people who say stupid and moronic things that don’t make any sense . . . . like YOU, for example.
Mikie Hart has always been a mouthy idiot. Good luck to him in the CFL.
