6 years is certainly not bad, especially when 2 of those years we overachieved with respect to talent and ended up in the BCS. How long did it take SMU to recover from the death penalty? Clock’s still running.

6 years from what Ty did to the program is a decent turnaround time if you ask me. As long as it gets turned around. We’re extremely young this year, STILL, bc of Ty’s weakness in recruiting. If I’m Jackson, I bail when I see 1-2 freshmen pass me on the depth chart by week 2 of Fall camp too. If he was in the 2-deep, I guarantee he’d still be Irish.

Buiscuit – If we continue to lose good players because we’re recruiting better ones. Awesome in 2010 means 6 years to get a team that ND deserves. I know you can’t guarantee that so I’ll take the NAP while you’re drinking that Charlie Kool Aid.

Personally, I was a big fan of Charlie, but after 2007, I looked at 2006 and realized that the line play was bad that year. Never realized how good Quinn really was. I hope this year looks good amd If everything comes together I’m predicting 9-3. We’ll know early with Michigan and Michigan State.

Time for me to take that extended Nap. Oh yah, I almost bought season tickets in 2007.

FYI Ron – no superstar linemen were recruited during Ty’s last 2 years and Charlie’s first. not one. get your facts straight before you start calling people out. The answer to your question? We’ll be okay this year, good in ‘09 and awesome in 2010. Now, go take a nap for 2 years and then come back and kiss our collective asses when we’re right.

You avoided even trying to write the start of the essay because you don’t even know what I mean about changes in the game in the last 30 years.

You probably wonder why we aren’t giving out 115 scholarships at a time.

Then you go and make a point spanning the last 13 years and 4 head coaching regimes and look to lay blame on underachieving players at ND over that time? I dunno, who can you blame for that Ron? Tenured ND professors?

Also, if you don’t think I know anything about ND football, why bother reading my blog?

Hey Domer – Get back on your meds. If it sounds like someone doesn’t know anything it’s you. My point is this. I don’t want to know what kind of superstars you think we’re recruiting:I want to know when these superstars are going to look like football players and maybe win some games. Considering the millions ND spends on football, the team couldn’t look worse.

My main point was this: The players that are leaving were highly recruited, but could not cut it at ND. Since 1995 we have recruited superstar linemen who did not look good at ND, yet played professional ball. Great in HS, underachieving at ND and then play in the NFL. Now other players are leaving because better players are being recruited. If they were better players they would not be 3 and 9. Remember that no good QB Kustac that went to Northwestern. Could’t cut it at ND. Who made that call?

Ron, you ignorant slut, before you ever go around using that bit about Montana being 4th of the depth chart, you have to write a 3 page essay, single-spaced, about how the game of college football has changed in the last 30 years that might make having a Joe Montana as 4th of the depth chart pretty unlikely in the modern game.
Holy Crap, ignorance like yours is how wars get started – it’s just a matter of people speaking on things about which they know shit.

Ronnie, you demonstrate the attitude that might trouble me more than the excessive enthusiasm demonstrated by a number of Irish fans. Tight end was and is not a position of weakness. Konrad Reuland is good, but I can believe that Carlson, Yeatman, and Ragone were simply better. Players aren’t leaving because our coaching staff is inept. They are leaving because they don’t think they will have a chance to play given the level of competition at their position. You, like people who have predicted a 9-10 win season this year, are a slave to recruiting rankings. Just because a player was rated better on Scout or Rivals doesn’t mean he is a better player or a better fit for the team. Although I’m sure you haven’t even contemplated an answer to this question, why don’t you tell me who you would have put out there on the field?

You use the phrase “a team considered to be the worst in Division 1.” Considered by whom? If you truly believe that Notre Dame was the worst team in D1 last year, you are alone. You can search the world and will find nobody who shares your opinion. I promise that this team will show marked improvement this season. I am on the record, as Biscuit is, as having predicted a 7-5 or 8-4 season this year. That being said, I would certainly want to get rid of Weis if we have another season like we did last year. But if the Irish are successful this year, would you be willing to admit that Weis is moving the program in the right direction? I doubt it, because your sensationalist posts above indicates that you have a clear prejudice against Charlie Weis and will believe what you want to believe, regardless of facts.

Buiscuit – Is it possible to have a depth chart on a 3-9 team that is the worst in the country. Can we really distinguish between the best and the worst when the team play looks clueless?

What’s sad is that good players are being forced to look elsewhere by a totally inept coaching staff. A year like 2007 can only be obtained by teams that had no planning or direction. Any Jr. college team could have accomplished more with the talent of players we had.

Remember that Joe Montana was 4th on the depth chart. Tell me biscuit, how does one build a depth chart. It’s obvious to me that Charlie never played any sports in his life so how would he know the diffirence between players. How they practice? What does that tell you besides nothing!
