After Positive Reaction To “Press Box Coaching,” Joe Pa Considers “DVR Coaching.”
Having received overwhelmingly positive responses to the notion that Joe Paterno might remain in the Press Box to Coach, Paterno is thinking he may step it up another notch and begin coaching from the comfort of his living room, utilizing his digital video recorder (DVR), or “TiVo” unit.

Shown Here: Paterno’s Typical TiVo Recording Lineup.
“I figure, heck, with my TiVo, I can just coach the game on my schedule. That way, if the wife wants to do something on Saturday, like, I dunno, go to Kohl’s or something to buy me some pants, I can head out there with her, and then come back and check on the game when we get back. I can just pause the game while we’re out, so I wont miss anything. And if I need to see a replay, that’s no problem too. I shouldn’t miss anything,” Paterno said. “With the way games are going these days, it’s pretty much impossible to get to Shoney’s in time for the early bird specials. With TiVo, I can just coach the game on Sunday morning. Heck, I could mow the lawn and be coaching the game by 7 on a Sunday morning. That wouldn’t be too bad. I think it’s a nice idea.”
When Joe Paterno’s staff was asked about his new “DVR Coaching” plan, Joe’s assistants were very excited. “It just goes to show you that, despite being around football before the invention of helmets, Coach Paterno is always adapting. Always innovating,” said one assistant.
When asked if the new plan would create any communication issues between Paterno and his staff who would, presumably, be on the field, during a Penn State football game, on a Saturday, the Nittany Lions staff indicated that they didn’t expect it to create any issues at all. “I think this will help bring clarity, really. Now Joe can see exactly what happened during the game. It can be tough to do that when you’re really close to all the action. He often complains that all the noise is really distracting,” indicated a Penn State grad assistant.
“The only concern I have, ” said Joe, “is I’m not sure all of our games will be on television. At least, I’m not sure I’ll get them because I don’t know if I want to pay extra to get the Big 10 Network. But that’s ok. Maybe I could coach some other teams. That would be really neat.”

He should just sit around in his diapers so he doesn’t poop in his pants
The next logical step would be to get the “Nittany Lions 2007 Football Season in Review DVD” and coach off THAT.
Q, you’d better hope to God that’s not a screen cap of YOUR TiVo list.
BK, you know I don’t have cable, let alone some fancy DVR. Beta Max is gonna win this battle. You’ll see.
Beaches has the green “don’t delete until I say it’s ok” icon next to it. That is special.
Im curious as to what is in the “recently deleted” folder. With the lineup we’re currently seeing, Im guessing it’s something along the lines of “Golden Girls” or “Days of our Lives”
[…] There is no word on whether or not Wannstedt owns a Tivo. […]
