It’s Friday. Have a Laugh.

Enjoy.

“…try putting together an appealing independent football schedule without MSU, Michigan, Purdue and the occasional Ohio State and Penn State, on it.”

AH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Great story! They threaten us with … Syracuse? Let’s say they add Syracuse, and ten years from now Notre Dame decides it wants to be in the Big 10 (11?)(12?). You think they would refuse? You think they wouldn’t kick Northwestern, or Indiana, or Iowa out of the conference to make room?

And please explain again why a 12 team conference is so much better than an 11 team conference from a TV standpoint? is it just so you can have two divisions and a conference championship? And once you have two divisions, who cares if one division has 7 teams instead of 6?

Oh let’s see. Hmmmmm. UCLA, Texas, Tn., LSU, BC. This is an endless list. The Big 11. Hah.

That’s possibly the funniest piece of Big Televen hubris I’ve seen in a long time, and from an MSUer, no less.

God, I’d kill to drop the Big 10+1 all together–he completely misses the point that as an Independent, you can put together a NATIONAL schedule. Michigan wants to give us the stiffarm? Fine–we’ll play Oklahoma. Purdue drops us under pressure from the Big Number? Cool–there’s that spot for the home and home with Alabama we’ve been talking abou. No more MSU? Okay, cool–we’re going to start pleying those 3 BE teams, so I’m sure Pitt would take that yearly spot. Instead of the occaisional Penn St. or OSU? How about the occaisional Texas or Florida State.

ND will be just fine without the Big Televen, thanks.

Kind of like the Expos trying to strong-arm the Yankees.

If Notre Dame added Alabama as a opponent for one game located at the Citrus bowl,we would hear alot less crying from domer critics.

He-Whose-Name-Should-Not-Be-Uttered would probably love this as dropping MSU, UM, and PU would give him the chance to move towards his ultimate dream of a 10-1-1 schedule with the 1 away alternating between USC and Navy.

What scares me though, is that the Black Sheep may just be stupid and gullible enough to believe that we CANT succeed without conference alignment.

Thanks, gwzimm. But apparently I can’t spell. I just finished “Touchdown Jesus” last night, and man, that did not leave a good impression of our AD with me. Everything here all makes sense now–all the scheduling crap. I’ve been a supporter of his based on the Olympic sports and given him the benefit of the doubt on football, but now, we can’t get rid of him fast enough!
