Biscuit, that is pretty much my point, I don’t think it is necessarily a bad thing that ND is playing some lesser teams. At the same time though, it leaves a lot less room to criticize other teams’ schedules.

Domer, in terms of the tough start, well honestly that is just bad scheduling (see Trey’s AD comment).

No Big televen school plays a tough schedule, although I give OSU credit for scheduling Texas for two years.

ND’s schedule is softening in the future. And thank the good Lord for it. We’ve been playing against Top-20 in difficulty schedules for the last 8 years and it’s time that we had a schedule on par with all the other perennial contenders like UM, FL and USC – meaning, a number of cakewalks in there. If that’s what it takes to win a NC, I’m all for it. There’s no reason why we should choose to take a tougher rough to the BCS than the other schools across the country.

This year is front-loaded and will be tough/painful, and while the cakes are comparable UM won’t play anything like it.

…in our faces. DTK, we despise having to play Duke and NC. It’s not a point of pride for us, don’t degrade our fans for something we have absolutely no control over.

One good thing for me in all this, though…Baylor is only a 3 hour drive from where I live, so woohoo! Lots of ND alumns in TX too. Personally, I’d rather us schedule UT, Tech, or A&M, but at least Baylor is another game I can get to. It’ll probably be the first sellout in the history of that stadium.

DTK loses 1 point for misspelling “dessert”. I was thinking of giving a pass because of the educational standards of UM, but decided not to in the end.

Loses another point for trying to defend playing a DII school over a D1.

Finally, loses 1 point for criticizing ND fans by throwing the incompetence of our idiot/AD’s scheduling.

I’d sort of agree with you about this year’s schedule except that the start is just insane. It’s not the roughest schedule ND has ever had, sure, but it’s still far more difficult than anything Michigan ever puts up. They don’t do anything without a cupcake appetizer.

Is Eastern Michigan better or worse than Duke or Air Force? Face it it, for all of the usual hype around the ND schedule, this year it is pretty ordinary, you just have the cupcakes for desert instead of the appetizer.
