And top 2007 recruit Joseph Barksdale, newly joining his team and the collegiate ranks as a 'student' at LSU just a few months ago, got just that.
In just month 5 of school at LSU, Mr. Barksdale got a swift right cross from ex-teammate Troy Giddens, who was recently kicked off the team for breaking and entering, identity theft, and other such crimes. Now, he's added assault of his ex-teammate to his growing list of 'accomplishments'.
Said Barksdale:
"You know, Coach let me know that I might get a chance to hang out with some future felons on the team, and that I just MIGHT get a chance to be assaulted by one. I mean, so far the experience has exceeded my expectations. I've been mentioned on ESPN.com twice already - once for committing to the program and once for getting &*%^$-slapped by a criminal teammate. Awesome."
Barksdale was a highly coveted Top 100 recruit at DT coming out of Detroit that considered Notre Dame as well. But, Charlie Weis only promised a good education, and no gang wars, so Joe had to go elsewhere for his academic experiences.

Barksdale Before LSU: All Smiles Barksdale Today: Not as Happy
This is where Mom has to come in. Listen Top Recruits' Moms of the world: at Notre Dame your kid will learn, he'll be hardworking, he'll stay out of trouble and he'll probably go pro. Oh, and he'll win. At pretty much every other big-time football school he will get slapped by teammates (LSU), learn how to cheat and hide it in plain site (USC) or learn how to avoid riots during every home game (OSU). I could go on forever. Think about it, and set your sons right: Go to the Irish.
And Go Irish.

CW got another 4 star recruit today, this time an OL from Maryland who was also offered by Fla St. and michigan hushpuppies.
With a dozen now in the fold, it looks like CW will have a top three class this year.
What I’m most pleased with is the good mix between offense and defense. We’ve stockpiled QB’s, RB’s, LB’s…..now, let’s get a speed buring WR or two.
Thumbs Up/Down:
