Tens Expected to Turn Out for Fighting Illini Meet ‘n Greet Tour
After an overwhelming spring game held at a local Chicago high school football stadium attracted a nearly 50% capacity crowd, Ron Zook and the Illini athletics program hope to quadruple their national exposure with a series of 6 Meet and Greets between Zook and a couple of fans here and there in Illinois metropolitan locales like Decatur.
According to the Illini Sports Information Department, fan interest in this “Zookapalooza” has been huge. “The phone rang like 5 or 6 times on Monday. Or was it Tuesday? Not sure. No. No. I think it was Monday b/c I went out fishing on Tuesday on account of the weather being so nice and all. Yeah. Monday. Anyway, I had to answer the phone 5 or 6 times on Monday, and 2 of those times it was a fan asking when Coach Zook would be dropping by their town. I tell you what, if this keeps up, we’re going to have to add additional appearances in towns like Clinton,” said Illini AD Ron Guenther. “Maybe we can even work this a little and get a sponsorship going with a local car dealership or two.”

I wouldn’t worry about anything Illinois does. They are still and always will be Illinois.
I know, gwzimm. That’s what makes them funny.
Clinton? Nah, they need to take a trip to Lexington. That place is a booming metropolis just waiting to be exposed to the Illini. They may get, what, six more fans out of that trip, almost doubling their current fan base.
