After a nice chunk of "serious" bowl game action, we now know the following:
- I hate Dodge Trucks with the fury of a gigantic robot boxer.
- I feel an undeniable urge to purchase a Chevy truck. I also feel an irresistible urge to run John Mellencamp over with said truck.
- The Big 12 sucks to no end and should lose "BCS Conference" status as a result.
- Colorado may have gotten the wrong guy.
- ND avoided a big problem by not doing what Colorado did.
- In about 5 weeks, the afterglow will wear off for Ian Johnson and Chrissy Popadics. It'll be snowy and cold in Boise. And grey. And Chrissy will not realize it, but in the back of her mind, she'll be wondering what happened to all the
passion and excitementcameras and crowd noise.

Sure, they're happy. For now.
- Say that name slowly: Chrissy Pop-a-dics. Uh huhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuh.
- I've never really matured past 14.

domer.mq's heroes
- Fox Sports is the ADD Addled Alpha Dog of Sports Broadcasting.
- Boise State doesn't have massive brass balls, just an appreciation for the moment. Those who dare, win, but it's a lot easier to dare when you aren't supposed to even compete in the first place. The more impressive thing: Boise State competed without even needing balls (or trickery) for the first 59:50 of football. Mitigating Factor for Awesomeness: It was Oklahoma and they're in the Big 12.
- Calvin Johnson has a reasonable lawsuit against Chan Gailey and Reggie Ball.
- Alabama should offer the job to BSU's Peterson. Not because he'll take it. I'll just enjoy watching it.
- Charlie Weis ain't going anywhere.
- We're male and we're stupid.

Really, really stupid.
- Darren McFadden: 2nd in Heisman Voting, 2nd Best Running Back on his Team? Probably not, but...
- West Virginia doesn't play defense and may not need to.
- We don't need a playoff. It would rob us of Cinderella Stories like we had last night. This ain't basketball.
- Michigan sucks the chrome off a Harley.
- Sometimes you eat the bar, and sometimes, well, the bar eats you.

- Herbie reads blogs, which leaves little wonder why he's the most informed college football analyst ESPN's got.
- Finally, future notions that a losing team should get a rematch with a victorious team for a championship are dead.

Feel free to tell us what else we know.

Finally, someone who agrees that a playoff scenario would have ruined the Boise St. game. If they went out a week from now and lost 42-14 to Ohio State, no one would remember the OU game. I’m not arguing against a playoff, I just am sick of people saying that because that was a great game, we need a playoff. As it stands, that game will be remembered as one of the greatest of all time, instead of like a first round playoff game. Anyone remember any first round NFL playoff games from 20 years ago? I didn’t think so. Sure, it proves BSU can compete with the big boys–just don’t tell me a playoff would result in more games like that. History only remembers the winners.

you know what Nate? thats BS and I’ll tell you why:
1) People remember last years great George Mason-UCONN game even though Mason got worked in the Semis
2) People remember Michael Jordan’s shot over Ehlo in the first round of the NBA playoffs even though the bulls got bounced by the pistons that year
3) People remember John Elway and the drive in Cleveland even though the broncos got killed by the giants in the super bowl
4) People remember the “music city miracle” even though the titans lost the super bowl to the rams
5) People remember the immaculate reception even though the steelers didn’t win the super bowl that year (i don’t remember who beat them)
I could go on and on. There is NO LEGITIMATE ARGUMENT against a playoff

Another year, another bowl loss. And now come the articles about how ND can’t win anymore, and the Mark May’s of the world are in their glory.
These days it’s tough to be an ND fan…at least we’ll always have Navy, right?
This will really hurt recruiting. CW was after 3 from LA. Objectively, why would they come to ND now?

I don’t think it will hurt recruiting at all – these kids know they can come in and play, and play early, on a team on the rise. going 10-3? not a bad year at all.

ok, it’s started: the recruits’ second thoughts. In the Chicago papers today, it was reported that Chicago star running back, Robert Hughes, who was planning on announcing his choice between ND and Illinois at the Army All Star game, is going to take visits to Michigan and OSU.
He ran for 1,700 yards this past season…he has great speed. Damn!

gwzimm,
simmer down. We’re stacked at RB and now have a couple “difference makers” in our depth chart there.
Join the recruiting services. It’s clear these kids aren’t affected much by bowl games.

ok, I’ll simmer, but we also just lost out on DT Will Blackwell from Louisiana, whom I know CW really wanted.

Hughes was also a heavy lean toward Illinois bc of all the depth we have at RB already…so if anything, it’s worse for Zook & co than us…
