Miami Hires DC Shannon to Replace Coker

The Biscuit - 3:01 pm

The “U” hired Randy Shannon to ‘turn things around’ down there with that Miami program.

I have three main thoughts on this.

1)  Way to go outside the program to fix things.  Don’t you think that might have made sense?  If Larry Coker had issues controlling his team, which means his staff had issues doing so, why would you go within the staff to replace him?   That is just dumb.  From both an executional and a PR point of view.

2)  Hiring a new head coach from your Defensive Coordinator position is not smart.   Google “Bob Davie” and you will see what I mean.

3) Shouldn’t Donna Shananananan (hey hey hey, goodbye) have been the one fired?  I mean, yeah, Coker had some responsibility.  But she was the one that could have taken a few steps and fix the problems.   Starting with REAL punishments for players when they get into brawls on a regular basis. Instead, she gets Coker fired, which takes the heat off her.  Classy woman.

In the end, nothing will change at Thug U.  They will still recruit troubled guys with sketchy pasts that are fast and unintelligent.  They will still get guys that will carry guns, take cheap shots, and think of themselves as more of a gang than a team.   Until Miami takes itself seriously by changing the guard at the top, and thereby changing the culture of that program, things will be the same.  Things will remain Thug.

Yoy.
