Musburger Declared Functionally Retarded

COLUMBUS, Ohio–Moments after the Ohio State Buckeyes nipped the Michigan Wolverines by three points in an exciting #1 versus #2 matchup, ABC announcer Brent Musburger was declared functionally retarded by the CIMR.

While the CIMR cited several reasons for the declaration, it pointed toward Musburger’s comment three minutes into Saturday’s game. Right after Michigan scored a touchdown, making the score 7-0 Wolverines, Musburger suggested that Troy Smith would need to lead the Buckeyes to a fourth-quarter comeback win. At the time of the comment, there were 57 minutes left in the game.

Musburger’s comment left fellow commentator Bob Davie, who was tested several times by the CIMR during his time as a Notre Dame footbaw coach, speechless. “When he said it, Herbie [Kirk Herbstreit] and I sort of looked at each other and shrugged,” Davie said. “Fortunately, someone on the other side of the stadium used a flashbulb a few seconds later, and Brent got distracted, so Herbie and I could cover for him.”

I dressed myself!

I dressed myself today!

In honor of the CIMR’s decision, Musburger is expected to wear a sign during next Saturday’s Notre Dame-Southern Cal broadcast which reads “YOU’RE WITH STUPID.”
