Bad Kermit’s Take on a Thirdhand Account of Notre Dame-Air Force

NAPERVILLE, Ill.--Forced to attend a wedding, and with the Notre Dame game being shown on channel "H," I had no choice but to listen to a friend's recap of the radio broadcast of the Notre Dame-Air Force game for my weekly Notre Dame football fix. Here are my impressions of my friend's impressions of Don Criqui and Allen Pinkett's impressions.

The Fighting Irish may or may not have scored really early in the game. It took them either 54 seconds to go 80 yards on 2 plays, or perhaps it took them 2 seconds to go 54 yards on 80 plays, depending on whether or not I remember what my buddy told me. I'm pretty sure Samardzija had a good catch, since my buddy said that Criqui sounded pretty excited about it. Here is my rendition of what that catch may or may not have looked like.

Great catch!

Then, my buddy said that Brady Quinn sounded like he was throwing the ball really well, but he wasn't completely sure, because the radio was cutting in and out a lot because he was driving past some high-powered electric wires, and his wife kept asking him whether they were going the right way, or whether he'd "F@#$ed up the directions again."

By his account, Quinn had either 4 touchdowns or 14 downs, the latter of which didn't make any sense to him, but he couldn't hear well over the sound of his son watching the DVD of Cars in the backseat of his minivan.

He said that he was pretty sure we should be a little concerned about the kicking game, because he thought he heard that the Irish had two extra points blocked and one missed. At least that's what he said he heard on the postgame, but at that point he had spilled apple juice in his lap while trying to pour it into a sippy cup for his son, and he was trying to clean that up.

All in all, it sounded like the game Saturday was possibly a satisfying win for Notre Dame against a team that took Tennessee down to the wire, but it's entirely possible that it wasn't.
